i NEED A MODERATOR....

...To help me please. I have soft deleted all of my messages to make room for more....it is my understanding from a past post that a moderator can hard delete them...if so can someone please do this for me?! Please and thanks!! Hugs:hug:Dorrie:)

Koala77 01-03-2009 03:21 AM

Am leaving this for some-one more clever than me Dorrie, 'cos all mine are soft deleted as well! ;)

Alffe 01-03-2009 06:23 AM

Me too, me too....I'd like them all hard deleted. I wonder why we can't do that ourselves....or can we? :o

Blessings2You 01-03-2009 07:14 AM

Okay, I'll flaunt my ignorance...what's the difference??

Alffe 01-03-2009 07:18 AM

when I delete them myself (soft delete), it says this message has been deleted by Alffe. When a mod. does it, it just disappears...like magic. *grin

Curious 01-03-2009 10:52 AM

Super Monkey to the rescue. :D

If anyone wants their hard deleted, just PM me. They need to all be soft deleted by you first.

B2Y, when they are soft deleted, they still take up space on your page. Not a real biggy.

Chemar 01-03-2009 11:05 AM

just FYI
the soft delete ie "deleted by you" message is only visible to you and us, but not to other members

Alffe 01-03-2009 11:06 AM

good to know but they still take up room. going off to soft delete so the magic can begin. *grin

Chemar 01-03-2009 11:10 AM

just a special request tho to all members...hard deleting for us on your visitor message isnt just a quick one button "poof" they are gone...we have to delete each message. It is very kind of Curious to offer to do this but is time consuming...a favor not a mod "duty" :o

she will be collecting choccy payola at the end of the day :D

Curious 01-03-2009 11:14 AM

It really doesn't take that long. I can hit the select all per page. Do that on each page and then *poof* they are gone.

They don't have to be done one by one. Not by members either. :)

Like I said, you need to delete ALL of them. I can't go through all yoru pages on what you want to keep.

The little arrow http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/im...en_usercss.gif at the top right side of the message box will give you a drop down menu. Just hit select all.

*as a reminder: Don't PM the other Mods unless they post they will do this. You will get me in BIG trouble. ;)

Alffe 01-03-2009 11:31 AM

LOL! I was just going to post that a delete all button would be nice! Yep, one by one I deleted them! Thanks Curious, time for the magic...*whisper..Lara is gonna be so happy. :D

Curious 01-03-2009 11:35 AM

:o
I was hoping you would come back and see that Alffe. They are all gone now.

Chemar 01-03-2009 11:51 AM

ah good to know that they can at least be done page by page:p

thanks Curious :)

Alffe 01-03-2009 11:56 AM

And Lara's gonna love to read that you're still learning too Cheri. :D

thanks again Curious...27 pages! Wow!

Jomar 01-03-2009 03:56 PM

only 10 per page... kind of time consuming...:(
There should be a "clean up all" button LOL
one reason i turned my visitor messages off :p

southie 01-03-2009 04:28 PM

Having Fun Yet???

:D

Enjoying the life of Moderatorship?

*grins*

::: shakes head ::::

How in the world are y'all ever going
to make it into being Super Moderators?

*laughing*

southie 01-03-2009 04:35 PM

Ummm hold your horses there, don't
even THINK about having me as a
Mod / Super Mod - I have enough
forums as is ...

*laughing*

Lara 01-03-2009 04:43 PM

Thanks to you very much for offering to do that, Curious. :)
I'm almost out of internet time/Kbps here, so it really helps me to have less to open on that page of mine at the moment. I've just got to stay away from those YouTube messages I guess. lol Sometimes I can't help myself and just open, open, open. :o

Jo, you can click each page, then do the delete them all at the same time. I delete all 27 pages of Alffe's while she posting. :p

Jomar 01-03-2009 05:13 PM

Ohhh thanks for that tip:D, I didn't know about doing it that way.

Want a secret Super Mods / Admins?

Set your profile settings in
REVERSE ...

So this way ... the OLD TOPICS
will appear first, and when you
have the settings to XX (time frame),
you can do the clean up FASTER this
way ...

Example:

1) Getting rid of OLD "One Post" - N/R
(No Response)

2) Getting rid of repetitions

3) Cleaning out the basement

It's very easy by just on the far right there
is a check mark - you can check mark those
(except for "HOT TOPICS") - and delete.

Not only will it save resources and drain
out on the server, and hogging up all the
space - You can still have the Search Engines,
Spyders, Bots, etc - still hooking up to the
Psych Central / Neuro Talk.

Doing this will make things a whole lot faster
with this click and go and those "Hot Topics"
that are left remain sitting there ...

You can then review them

1) Determine if they can be "merged" into a
current topic if they are worthwhile reading
2) If they are worthy to be "bumped"
3) Or if it's "out-of-date" / old - delete
4) Or if it's such a good topic - SOMETIMES
renaming the thread name and bringing it
back out of the "attic" and back to life all
over again - can do wonders.

Hope this tips and tricks help - and adding
tags to them as well, will let the other Mods
know that this one is a "Keeper". Not just
because it attracts search engines, but also
due to the fact it contains very good information
in there! Please DO use those tags!

Hope this helps!

Wanted to say "Thanks to All Moderators"

I had to add, I love all the Moderators, for keeping this site safe.

I used to moderate a site I am a part of but something started happening
and I gave up my powers, and then it was a big mess.

And it was all the sudden even gone completely.

I guess moderating wasn't something I was cut out to do.

Even though for a while I enjoyed doing it.

So keep up the good work folks.

Chemar 01-04-2009 08:44 AM

thanks Southie

DocJohn is very on the ball with archiving etc and so he takes good care of all things here :)

we also dont ever merge or delete posts that way as people bookmark things for reference and that would just cause confusion. thankfully members here, especially our welcome team, are great at responding so the "no response" threads are few
