Newcomer
I am sorry that I did not introduce myself in my previous post. I have had MS for 20+ years and am in a wheelchair 24/7, but my most troubling symptom is the nerve pain in my left arm. I have been on numerous medications and have been to 3 pain management specialists and still the pain persists.
My friend has suggested that I explore Dr. Garvey's treatments in Florida. I am wondering if anyone has heard/seen him. Any response would be appreciated. Georgia |

Hi Georgia,
Welcome to NT. I have permanent nerve pain from MS, and also from getting hit in the rear of a car I was riding in. We were stopped at a red light many years ago. Lower back pain.:( I have tried every legal drug I was prescribed for pain, used machines at PT and exercise. I also had deep massages, heat and sound waves, shots and the TENS machine. Sometimes, you get lucky and find something that works. I haven't. I just try to ignore it so my mind doesn't concentrate on it all day. Trust me this is not just a headache in intensity, it is a 6 to 10 on the scale of pain or sometimes I say 20+. Ever find when you are real busy with activities or major thoughts, or involved in a good book or movie that the pain is less? If you can divert your mind to other things, pleasant memories, etc., it might help. The more I think of my pain, the more it intensifies. I think they call it, mind over matter. I am sorry you are experiencing this pain. I have not heard of the treatment doctor who mentioned. I hope you find relief. Do you have an electric chair or a manual? Is the arm pain/damage related to use? Arm pain could originate in the shoulder or neck too. Lady |
I just wanted to welcome you, Georgia. I wish I knew of something that would be helpful to your pain, but sadly,I don't. I do hope you feel better soon.

Welcome to NT. I suffer from neuropathic pain and have tried lyrica with horrid side effects. Doc has suggested neurontin.
Thus far, when I have a flare, IV solumedrol it works to lessen it! |

I did a quick google on "Dr. Garvey, Florida, nerve pain" and couldn't find anything. Can you explain what his approach is? I suffered two years with severe nerve pain, until I got on Low Dose Naltrexone. Antidepressants seemed to help a little too, but I dropped those completely once I got on LDN. Cherie |
