Lost one of my babies today
I am considered the crazy pet lady by many. I love all my pets and mourn each time I lose one of my dear friends. It has been almost a year since I have lost a pet.
I woke up this morning and went into feed the cats. ( they have their own bedroom ) Yes crazy pet lady! My cat Calypso aka Fat Cat was half way inside his tunnel and did not come out when I fed the others. I then went to feed the dogs and got into the shower. When I got out of the shower Mya ( My Doxie) was whining and pacing outside the bathroom. When I came out she barked at me and walked towards the cats room. I went to get my coffee and ignored her. She kept coming to me and whining and going to the cats room. Finally she stopped coming to me and stayed in the cat room whining like a baby. I went to see what was wrong and she was laying in the tube next to Fat Cat whining still. As soon as I reached in the tube and touched Fat Cat I knew he was gone. I rescued him 13 years ago and he was around 3yrs old then. He had a long life and was happy. Geez how many cats have thier own room. He had his own bed and lived a good life with his kitty brothers and sisters and Mya his protector. Mya and I are a bit depressed today. But we were happy to have him as long as we did. It never gets any easier. God Speed Calypso! We Love you! |
 Oh Hon, I am so very sorry.:hug::hug::hug:

Oh (((Dottie))) I'm so very sorry. :( It's never easy losing one of our fur children. A friend of mine who goes by Roadie (and has MS) lost her Bubba, a big gentle dog, yesterday. She is in terrible mourning today. I feel so bad for both of you. But I know both fur kids had wonderful lives and wonderful mommies.
God speed to Calypso and Bubba. :heartthrob: |
I'm so sorry.
Your Doxie sure is a good little family member. We lost a dog a few months back. It took me a good three days before I felt even half way okay. So hard... It's normal to hurt with this type of loss. God Speed. (Hugs) |
:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad she had such a charmed life with you. I belong to a forum called Spoiled Maltese-you would get along great there. A lot of our babies have everything except a private chauffeur-wait a minute-they have us. Your Doxie sounds like a dear! |
I'm so sorry!
Our cats & dogs all passed due to old age except for one who had cancer. It hurts each time, and it doesn't get easier. I know! My thoughts are with you and your other fur babies. |
I'm so sorry Dottie...I know that she had a wonderful life with you.
|
I am so sorry to read this.
It has to be hard for you.
Our oldest cat is 21 now and I watch her like a hawk! The vet thinks she has cardiomyopathy and may go anytime. Once her breathing is affected we will have to have her put to sleep I think. She may pass before that happens. |
I'm so sorry to hear that, Jaded.
 Hugs to Mya and the rest of the gang, too. I know it's hard on them as well. You're not the only crazy pet person - my birds have their own bedroom too. :o |
. so sorry ... its always hard to loose one of our fur friends ... hang in there |
sorry for your loss
Aw...I am a pet person in a huge way..and I spoil my 3 chihuahua's daily ...they give us such love in return.
I believe that our pets NEVER leave us and your Calypso will let you know that you are being visited. So watch out for kitty signs! |
(((Dottie))) how are you faring? Much love and hugs for you.
|
Doody, thanks for asking. I am doing better. I had my sweet Alissa for the weekend so that helped some.
If one more person says IT WAS ONLY A CAT!!!!! I will rip their head off!!!! To me ,he was part of my family, sigh......some people just don't get it! Thank you for thinking about me and for "getting it" Dottie |
oh gosh. I'm so sorry. :(
I totally understand your grief. Some people just don't understand. When I lost my little Persian it really took me months to recover. Whenever I thought of her or found her fur in the vaccum or something I sobbed openly all the time and felt so empty. so sorry Dottie. I feel badly that I'd not read your message until today. |
Dottie? I understand....
Yes! Our creatures never really leave us? I see my window drapes move as if one of my past cats was there, but I know they aren't .....sigh..
Now, THREE years after losing my last cat to cancer, I am STILL finding and picking up cat hairs! I'm amazed and at the same time pleased? Doesn't mean I am a poor housekeeper, it just means that they've left memories for me to recall. They appear magically and I'll just leave it at that - they are watching me from afar. Hope this helps you find some peace. Hugs and hope always! - j 's |
Only a cat? How cruel!
I took a day off work on bereavement leave when our German Shepherd passed away. My employer knew the reason I was taking leave, and he still paid me. I had lost a member of my family. Why would he not? |
Oh (((Dottie))), we all understand and care very much. Like the others, I've grieved too many times, some more than other pets, but some hurt so bad I couldn't go to work either. Sobbed as if my world had come to an end.
People who say things like that, well...I think they just haven't achieved some level of higher consciousness. WE know how precious these furbabies are! :grouphug: |
I guess I have avoided this post because it hits home too hard, I lost a 11 month old that was my baby from 4 wks old and he was hit by a truck that was flying and never bothered to even stop and say he was sorry, so my dh against my wishes took him out front and he was in my yard next to mailbox when struck down by that monster and I screamed as though it was my child dying in my arms, I must have screamed for hours and Dh felt so guilty he went to where the man lived and threatened to shoot off the top off his truck and of course police were called and when they heard what the man did they told him to avoid our rd forever (he had an alternate rt) but I am still to this day if I see his picture will cry! Then if that was not enough a year ago on Christmas day my Dh's beloved dog we had for 11 years died in his arms and that cold hearted man cried like a baby for hours along with the rest of the family! We love our dogs as though they are our kids, 3 of them sleep with me ( good thing they are all under 14 lbs) so we know how terrible you feel and our heart is still broken after all this time. I feel no shame what so ever in the way I treat and love my babies! Some people can't do it but the only way I could be consoled was to get another like him except I got a female since I learned she would stick with me rather then want to hang out with Dh, and after that a doggy door was installed and a fence put in my back yard and my fur kids don't go anywhere without me! I am so sorry, no words will ever make the pain go away but time does help!
|
Oh ((Junie)) I'm so sorry for your loss as well.
|
Me too Junie. It hurts like crazy to lose a much loved pet.
|
Only a cat? People who say things like that (especially when you're grieving, for pete's sake!) ... if they can't understand how to love something SO easy to love I'm sure they have no way to love anyone.
Way easier to love a dog, cat, turtle or hampster than it is to love some people. |
The way I look at it is people that don't like pets are cold hearted and I judge a person by the way my pets react to them because I believe they can sense animal haters and its their loss to never know the love of a furbaby! My Fav gift I got for Christmas is a plaque from my Dil of a mini schnauzer that says"the more people I meet , the more I love my Schnauzers" and I love it because its so true! Funny thing is she and my son dislike my babies??
|
Hugs for You.....
Was sorry to read of your precious cat's passing....I am just catching up with this site again, have been gone awhile.
My Bearbear just had surgery thursday last week for a broken leg (in 4 places) and its all pinned, he looks so pathetic partially shaved the way he is! He has 16 weeks to endure the pins....and the vet said he could still lose it! |
Thank you all for your comments. Its good to know I have people that get it when it comes to loving pets.
CS I am sorry about Bearbear,,,,what happened? Poor baby. |
Hi! Sorry to hear about your furbaby! I have two mini doxies' and they are like my lil babies. AYUP, they are totally spoiled; one is almost 14 and the other will be 11 soon. I can't even think of being w/out them. Thinking of you....
