Great news everyone!

I don't have MS! ha! I can stop all these stupid meds now.

Oh, I guess I should tell you the story behind this.... My mother just called me after she went out with her friends and they hit up the local psychic. Now according to my mother who needed to call me and relay the information she received....the psychic says I don't have MS! Isn't that fabulous?!?!? Instead she says I have some kind of predisposition causing my antibodies to attack my body when I am stressed out and that all i need to do is de-stress. Oh, and according to the psychic I have to eat sweet potatoes, asparagus, and eggplant all together at least 3 times a week and I will be cured. It's a MIRACLE! Oh the psychic also guessed i would be a smart ***** skeptic too. Wow she's right about everything.

She also ended by telling my mom she should sell her house and move to Ireland where she should teach nursing at a convalescent home for the elderly... because my grandma (who died in 1987) told her so. Ok so that one wasn't so far fetched except...oh yeah mom doesn't even have a nursing degree, she does have a degree in social services and another in human resource management which explains why she has been working in mortgage for the last 15 years.....

Yes, I'm "in a mood". But this tends to happen when your mother calls you up to tell you that all of the doctors and all of the testing is wrong and all i have to do is eat my veggies. I did tell her she can't sell the house and move to Ireland because I plan on selling the house to use the money to pay for her nursing home where she will be locked in a padded room so the psychic friends and fairies can't get her.

Bet the psychic didn't see that straight jacket coming.... Tough love is so much more fun when it's combined with self love. Ok, I am done ranting now.

HA HA I love sweet potatoes of course the butter and brown sugar help, I like eggplant if it's fried and smothered in cheese sauce and I like asparagus if it is battered and fried.

So let's think about this for a moment.......

How do you combine the 3? Do I make a big bad for you salad loaded with sugar and butter and cheese and mix it all into a ball and deep fry it?

Hey I tried the copaxone because the doctor said... I mean all jokes aside I am willing to eat my veggies. For my crazy mother and her psychic friends I will give it a shot.

CayoKay 02-01-2009 09:42 PM

Legzz, you can hold a clinical trial for ONE.

:D

keep us posted, I'm willing to try most anything...

except, throwing all three in a blender together, and making a smoothie.

ewwwwwwwwwwwww...

TwoKidsTwoCats 02-01-2009 11:07 PM

They say a good laugh everyday is great for our health anyway... so do you call your mom everyday?? :D I'd have peed my pants and then some if my mom told me she visited a psychic and came up with that.:D

OH and a recipe... the eggplant and asparagus would be good in a veggie lasagna and a sweet potato pie for dessert!;)

Erin524 02-02-2009 12:18 AM

Mmmmm! Asparagus! (only vegetable other than corn that I will grab first when offered a choice of asparagus or another veggie)

I just dont like the aftereffects that I get from asparagus. (it's a natural diuretic) But, gosh it's tasty!

I have never had fried asparagus. I wonder if any local restaurants sell that?

I always thought that it was asparagus, corn and mashed potatoes, all mixed together that was the cure for MS. I guess I was wrong...but it's still tasty. (mashed potatoes keep the asparagus and corn nice and warm)

ewizabeth 02-02-2009 12:55 AM

Ok Legzz,

Now, tell me they didn't actually pay the psychic for this diagnosis, did they?

Anyway, enjoy the asparagus, but maybe you can wait for the fresh spring harvest? :)

legzzalot 02-02-2009 09:13 AM

Ha Ha yes I do call my mother every day at least twice a day or she drives 50 miles to my house to ask me why I am not answering my phone. And yes they did pay the psychic. LOL Thus proving I am in the wrong profession.

My fiance summed it up last night he says and I quote: I always knew you were crazy but I didn't know you came from a long line of crazy.

Told him I am third generation crazy and if he doesn't believe me he can ask my dead grandma. LOL

tkrik 02-02-2009 09:31 AM

Well hot dang! You mean, if I go to a psychic they will tell me I don't have MS and just need to eat some veggies? LOL I can be undiagnosed by a psychic?:D

Niko 02-02-2009 09:47 AM

eggplant?! Ick!

DM 02-02-2009 10:10 AM

LOL!! If only the Neuro's were PSYCHIC!!!!! *sigh*

FinLady 02-02-2009 10:27 AM

For the eggplant part - I would suggest eggplant parmasean. They fry up the eggplant, cover it with cheese and sauce. It's actually a tasty italian dish. ;)

mom2five 02-02-2009 11:11 AM

Leggz, you are always good for a laugh!

My family's favorite way to eat sweet potatos:

Peel and dice into crockpot, several sweet potatos
Add 1-2 cans of pineapple chunks with juice
Top with some butter and brown sugar
Cook on low all day

It's the best.

Good luck with your new menu! ;)

hollym 02-02-2009 11:52 AM

Great! Now I want eggplant parmesan with asparagus spears and sweet potato french fries.

jprinz99 02-02-2009 12:02 PM

shh, don't tell the drug companies! Next thing you know all veggies will only be available for a Tier 4 cost share...

Sure, and I'll do it for you if you want. I'm 3rd generation crazy psychic, and if you don't believe me, you can ask my dead grandma.

Hey can you tell your grandma to find a way to distract my grandma so i don't have to have my mom committed to the psych ward? I know my grandma is still around but she has one heck of a way of telling me I need to eat my veggies!

SallyC 02-02-2009 12:27 PM

Did someone say, sweet potato french fries?:p:p

I want asparagus, fried in bacon fat. (it's a vegetable, it's still healthy, right?)

Riverwild 02-02-2009 04:59 PM

Could be worse! She could have said to eat canned okra, turnip and peas together!

ewizabeth 02-02-2009 05:46 PM

Ok, you guys are making me hungry! My stomach is growling and it's two hours until suppertime! :Starvin:

sabimax 02-02-2009 06:16 PM

Darn I am not hungry anymore, just ate two bowls of raisin bran!! wonder what the pyschic would say about raisin bran???? hmmmm

well, glad you are cured dear, and keep laughing, cause I know when my mom comforts me with her rationalizations, or comparing my stuff to her stuff...even though not....I know the feelings!! keep smiling and giggling...and now the thread seems actually a recipe thread for
those veggies....hugss,sarah

legzzalot 02-02-2009 06:26 PM

Hey i need all the recipes I can get!

Ok, who wants to hear my ironic ending to this story? So I had to go grocery shopping today because the fiance is going to be out in the field for the next 3 days (go ARMY) and he needed some stuff to take with him. And I thought I would be the good little housewife and make him a nice steak dinner to send him off since he will be living on soup while he is gone.... So I am in the produce aisle and would you believe?? THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY SWEET POTATOES!! we looked and looked. NONE I could not help but laugh.

braingonebad 02-03-2009 12:17 PM

I guess everybody else's grandma told them to eat sweet potatoes too.

;)

My grandma says you can substitute red cabbage... shudder.
