5 minute chocolate mug cake

I put this in the food court but I know a lot of people don't go there and wanted to make sure I shared it with everyone!

my friend said her 3 children LOVE it! she swirled chocolate sauce in the batter after she was done mixing and it was to die for!

Enjoy! Let me know if you try it.

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional) A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.? Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of
the day or night!??

Dadburnit YB!!! YOu know I'm a chocoholic and look what your'e doing to me!!! Giving me yet another reason to indulge. I'm afraid to ask how many calories???

Thanks for the recipe; I'll try it soon! OR, you could make one and bring it to TH for me! *pouring a nice cold glass of milk*

Just pulled my mug out of the microwave! I opted for no chocolate chips, and put some caramel sauce in instead. I'll let it cool, then let you know how it is!

4boysmom 02-03-2009 09:52 PM

Okay, the caramel was good, but I think melted choc chips would have made it better! Also, maybe cook it shorter if you have a newer microwave. I thought 3 minutes was too long for mine, it made it a little tough.

But it was chocolate! And just a small bite hit the spot!

Thanks for the recipe.

The good thing is, fresh cake but no leftovers. :p

Oh no! This recipe has been following me around for a year! I make it once then throw out the recipe and it shows up again and I make it again. Problem is, it is so addictive - chocolate cake whenever you want?!

If you run out of cocoa add lemon and a bit more flour for a nice lemon cake.

kicker 02-04-2009 09:00 AM

HMMMM. I have all the ingredients, kids would love this for afterschool snack, I have mugs........

kicker 02-04-2009 09:02 AM

Did I mention it snowed earlier? Just the day for hot chocolate or something.

doydie 02-04-2009 11:23 PM

Can you mix the dry ingredients up in a large container and measure it out from there or would that mess it up?

Aarcyn 02-05-2009 09:35 AM

I need to lure some children in from the neighborhood so that I have an excuse to make this chocolate cake confection!

When I first read this, I thought you said 1000 Mugs..LOL!

Good Luck, Polar..

PolarExpress 02-05-2009 10:30 PM

Thanks, Sally...1000 mugs a day would be tough, but if they're filled with chocolate cake, I will do my best to follow instructions (must I take with food?)..

I mixed it is all separte, sprayed the mug with Pam and then put it in the mug.

I put peanut butter chips in it - it was really good! I only cooked it for 2 1/2 min's and that was plenty.

Good luck with the roids Polar - I am with ya! My problem is I usually don't get the munchies I get a sour stomach. :(

doydie 02-06-2009 11:42 PM

I have it printed out!

PolarExpress 02-06-2009 11:49 PM

I decided not to be alone in my guilty pleasure..I wrote out the recipe and shared it with everyone at work and left with 15 or so promises to let me know how they liked it. I'm only a little evil..:icon_twisted:

yeahbut 02-07-2009 03:54 PM

I tried it once and thought it was to dry - added some extra oil and cooked it less the second time. Got a little better but the third time I added some Chocolate sauce to it about a tablespoon - mmmm ok, I admit it is getting better.
