What's that saying about "dance like no one is watching?"
Well, we're all watching now brother! :D Rock on... Todd PDTalks.com |
Dave Barry...
....that fount of wisdom, said something along the lines of- "Nobody really cares if you can't dance, so dance!"
I suspect that ths is the single greatest exercise program we could adopt. It does aerobic, stretching, balance, and strengthening all at once. It uses the music to overcome the PD. It probably encourages new neural growth. It is free and can be done in the privacy of your home (at least if you don't put it on youtube :) ). And you feel so damn cool so long as you don't watch the video  |
and so nice to see you
instead of text on the screen. i tried to do one of my own but used up my remaining two gigs before i hit the right song, and now can't seem to copy any files to disc so that i can delete them and free up room and yada yada yada. it really made me happy to see you dance - i loved to dance, and every now and then i can get about 3/4 of the way back to where i used to be - and that is a gift.

Hope
Good on you. As a traditional english dancer I know that certain kinds of music and certain bands give you more lift and spring in your step.It was wonderful as last night with a good band my husband and I were able to polka around the dance hall.I am hoping that this may continue for many more years. At least I can live in hope.

Dancing
I loved your video. It got me moving too.
:D Thanks for sharing. |

Very Very Good!
Bravo ***** 5 - Stars :d |
What is the difference?
I have tried several times to free up some movement with dance, but so far I have not been able to. Fast music just seems to stimulate my tremor. Could it be that I already had a faulty sense of rhythm before Pd, or could it be that I never learned to dance? I would really like to hear an explanation for that. I do know that even when I cannot walk, I can still run. Hmmmmm...very interesting.
Thanks for sharing that with us. michael |
dancer i was not

As to the problem you describe, try a lot of different types. Fiona/Rao has told me of being able to waltz down the street in the arms of a friend when she was off. I respond to kick butt, loud, thumping, neighbor maddening, rock n roll preferably with a bit of southern blues. Other types do nothing or even interfere as you say. Also, headphones and ipods interfere, speakers leave me unfettered. One other type that I respond to is what I think of as romantic ballroom style. Raul Malo is one of my favorites there. So, different strokes I suppose. It would be interesting to know about other folks' choices. Maybe it depends on just which neurons have been damaged or something. But I declare, when it works it is the best exercise choice going! Just make everyone leave, pull the shades, and gooooo! :D |
Rock on!
Most Excellent. |
Good stuff - and I suppose it is a case of what turns you on!

how could I pass this one up?
