Another frivolous question:
 

When someone suggests going out for "brunch", what time comes immediately to your mind? I think of (hello) between breakfast and lunch--hence the term "brunch".

I suppose it depends what time you normally eat breakfast and lunch, but let's get a consensus here. What time is brunch?

I guess I'm going to be the odd ball here. Maybe it is because I used to be a waitress at a country club that did brunch every Sunday. To me, brunch is anywhere between 11AM and 4PM. That way, it encompasses all of the breakfast hours and lunch hours and is anytime up to when the dinner menu would start at 4PM.

Eleven oh ONE? That fall knocked your clock out of time. You need to reset by one minute! :D

I'm with Twink.....anytime somebody else is cooking is breakfast/brunch/lunch/supper time for me!! :D

But really, I think of brunch as around 11:00 AM. Between breakfast and lunch.

What would the meal between lunch and supper be? Lupper? Sunch? :confused:

I vote for LUPPER, as that is what everyone in my family has called it for ages!

I also vote with Holly! Brunch is 11:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. or so here in our local restaurants and when someone says brunch, it could be morning or afternoon depending on how you feel that particular day!

It's always on Sunday too!

(this is coming from someone who eats Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at 2:00 in the afternoon...:p )

Okay, I'm back, and it was good.

But when somebody says "brunch" and we don't eat until 12:30...uh, that would be LUNCH. To me. Brunch is BETWEEN breakfast and lunch. If brunch is 12:30, when is lunch? 3:00? Supper at 10:00?

I say around 10:00-11:00 is brunch. Who invented that stupid term, anyway? Why don't we just say "early lunch" or "late lunch"? Or...now here's a concept...why don't we just say "let's eat at 12:30"?

It was french toast, with maple syrup.

I was explained this by one of the chefs of one of the restaurants that I worked at years ago.

He said that Brunch is actually having Breakfast for lunch. And it evolved with the Church services...

A lot of the folks would come to the restaurants after church and request breakfast food (like Eggs and Pancakes and French Toasts and such)

but most restaurants opened at 10:30am and started serving lunch, only, not breakfast.

So, someone brilliant started to serve breakfast at lunch to please the crowds and it became a trend.

At least that's what I was told. I just worked there. LOL

I think brunch is a combination of typical breakfast foods to include some things that might be considered lunch fare. I know whenever we went out to "brunch" they always served some sort of omelets and pastries along with some sort of meat....maybe steak or sausage. As long as somebody else is cooking I don't care what they call it!

I looked up the definition....."A meal typically eaten late in the morning as a combination of a late breakfast and an early lunch."

Here's what was said about the time it's served....."Brunch can be served between 9am and 11am. In saying this, cafes and restaurants also offer brunch based dishes into the afternoon, especially on Sundays."

Okay....now I'm hungry.....:rolleyes:

Let's all just all go to Grandma's. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner/supper 24/7!

I love breakfast for supper. Maybe we'll do that tomorrow night. French toast, scrambled eggs w/cheese, bacon (extra crispy) and sausage links. Yum!

Sounds like heart attack on a plate to me.....but, oh so yummy. Maybe that's why they have that kind of stuff for breakfast, so you have all day to work it off..:D

This is what I think too. :D

My DH stomach time is lunch at 11 AM and supper at 5 PM!!!! So to me a brunch would have to be like from 10AM to noon.

I don't know how I am going to live with him when he retires next year. I may be begging to come visit some of you guys.

I also think that "Brunch" is around 11am. Over here, people that have Brunch seem to have it about 11-11.30am.

I don't really see the point in it myself. I usually just have some toast or cerial in the morning and then don't feel hungry until about 1pm. I don't know how some of the people that have brunch manage to have Breakfast, Brunch and then Dinner within a few hours!:eek:

11:15 am in states where the time don't matter. Noon in states where they can't serve champagne until noon...

Sunday Champagne brunch... Love it! The Rusty Pelican in Miami is probably my favorite.

I really like it when we get to have lupper at the Greek restaurant down the street. Mmmmmm!!!

If the cleaning lady gets finished before noonish today, my mom and I will be going out for brunch at a local breakfast restaurant that closes around 2pm. I'm hoping the cleaning lady is quick today. I'm already hungry...belgian waffles sounds good to me right now.
