Other Auto-Immune Conditions In Addition To MS?

Who's got other auto-immune conditions in addition to MS? Are we more prone to have other AI conditions because we have MS? I read an article on this and it sparked my curiosity.

I have hypothyrodism and take medication for that. I've had very mild psoriasis but haven't had a flare up of it in a long time. Usually it's on the palm of my hand only.

Anyone else have other AI conditions besides MS?

I have Reynaud's. I have no idea whether PwMS have a higher percentage of incidence.

I have B-12 Deficiency. I think I read somewhere, and I know someone will correct me if I am wrong, that PwMS do have a higher incidence of B-12 deficiency.

I was recently dx'd with CRPS. There are a couple of studies out there that suggest that PwMS have a higher percentage of being dx'd with it than P w/o MS. That was in one of the CoHort studies I read - it was a small study.

I have rosacea and sometimes eczema.

Just Psoriasis like you Kelly...Mild and mostly on the palms of my hands.

But I blame every ache and pain I have on MS...Just on account 0 cause..:D

OOH me too Sally; it makes such a great excuse!! It really does come in handy once in a while! Whoops; I forgot... it's the MS you know....

I have skin issues too. It's really sensitive and my face turns red but the Dermatologist says it's not rosacea.

The MS also caused me to be a short, fat brunette instead of a tall, busty blonde too so there!! :p

Nope, not to my knowledge at least. I do get eczema at the beginning of the summer each year, but it's ONLY at that time of the year (oddly, I survive through brutally harsh winters without incident) and it only lasts 3 weeks to a month, and is very mild.

My big issues are headaches/migraine/head pains. Have plagued me almost my entire life.

Yep, MS and psoriasis for me. But every female member that is blood related to my Mom has at least one immune disorder.

I have eczema, sjoghrens, arthritis, and anxiety. Wasnt MS enough?

FinLady 03-22-2009 08:40 AM

They are still up in the air about it, but they are beginning to think endometriosis is an auto immune disease. If that's the case, then I have two so far.

You'd think so wouldn't you!

I have mild psoriasis. I had markers for thyroid and rheumatoid arthritis when they did my LP, but so far thyroid testing has been normal except during my first flare (had hypertyroidism for about 3 months). My knees generally kill me, but I think that it is just regular arthritis.

Interesting topic! Besides being SPMS, I also have arthritis, sebhorrhea (sp?), fibromyalgia and now atrial fibrillation probably as a result of the MS. I almost forgot depression, but I don't know if that's a separate thing or part of everything else???? Guess we're just lucky......NOT!!!!

If so, count me in on this one as well.

Supposedly I have/ had Graves Disease. I say supposedly. in 99 I was hospitalized b/c my overactive thyroid caused my heart to beat so fast that they thought I was going to have a heart attack.

The funny thing is, after I had DD I did the rdioactive iodine treatment that was supposed to kill my thyroid, now 4 yrs later, I have not been on thyroid meds for 3 years and my levels are still testing at a normal range. So i dunno.

It's a skin condition. I've had some problems with that occasionally. (either that or it was seborrhea)

They say fibro is not an autoimmune disease but something is attacking my body right now :Sigh:

Jappy 03-26-2009 06:31 PM

Besides MS and all its symptoms I have--Atrial Fibrillation,Fibro,
Arthritis, had a hysterectomy because of endometriosis, acid reflux disease
diverticulitis, COPD, High Colesterol, had a blockage cleared near heart

Ooo putting all together like that just makes me feel sicker

With the MS and all the other problems it scares me, "what is really
going to happen to me"

I just have to keep my FAITH stronger that it will get me through.

Jappy :)

But Jappy, you are now living in the fine land of Kentucky!!!!!!
It's gorgeous down there and will warm your soul. Well, my grandkids live there and that also makes it special!

I have psoriasis too. Flared up about 6-10months prior to my first bout with ON. Hmmm ;)

lindkaye 03-29-2009 02:48 PM

So far to date: MS, RSD, osteoarthritis, endometriosis (think this is autoimmune), IGA defeciency. Then, I also have scoliosis and gerd. Running out of good body parts! lol ;) I think at times somehow these all must be related in one way or another - I can't be that blessed!

lindkaye 03-29-2009 02:50 PM

OOPs - Revision - forgot the one i was just diagnosed with last week! Hypothyrodism. I need a notebook to keep track!

Snoopy 03-29-2009 03:10 PM

As of right now - just MS :o

karilann 03-30-2009 06:29 PM

Auto immune issues

Thyroid issues.

Its so scarey. I guess it just depends which direction our immune systems want to take. My mother just passed away from Scleroderma, my sister has Sjourns, and I have MS. My daughter has endrometriosis. My mom's family has autoimmune issues floating all over the place.:(

As is the case with my immediate family. Mother's side has the host of autoimmune conditions. Both sides have heart disease. :(
