My update.

Well I went to the doctor's today for a full physical and found out I am very healthy (except for MS:rolleyes:). My heart is fine, my blood work was all fine, and the doctor said my weight was fine for my height. I had the blood work done when I was feeling my worst but apparently there was nothing wrong. They checked my vitamin D and thyroid and all is fine.

So why do I still feel like crap? Guess I can only blame on the MS. So my plan is to try my hardest to loose this extra weight. I don't care what the doctor said, I am overweight. I think that is what is dragging me down. Maybe if I try harder, I will have more energy. :Dancing-Chilli::mf_swordfight:

If anyone has any suggestions and want to give me their input, I would love to hear it.

Probably because our weather's so crappy in the north east, still.

I'm holding out hope that this winter will be done, pronto.

I'm in agreement about the winter thing! :)

I also know that I have met you personally and unless you have put on a LOT of weight since that GTG in Mass, you are NOT overweight!

Is it possible that fatigue is the problem?
Even a small dose of something to help with fatigue may help. I felt like crap for a long time until the doc decided to start me on Provigil. The very first dose worked for me. I swear by it now. Provigil is expensive but there are other drugs out there that may help. I didn't realize just how much it was affecting me until I treated it.

I gained about 7 pounds (since the GTC), not that much. But I feel like a slug and have no energy whatsoever. I have had fatigue ever since I can remember but this fatigue is very different than what I've ever experienced. Could this be the true MS fatigue? Or am I just out of shape? I know I am in denial a little about this fatigue. Maybe I should just call my neuro.

Good news, K..:)

Yeah, blame it on the ever changing weather carp..

Feel better..

I agree totally. It's been unbearably cold here this week. I thought I could finally turn off the heat and save a few bucks. :(

Hopefully soon you'll be able to get out in the warm sunshine and will feel better

True MS fatigue is tough to get around. My neuro explained that we get fatigued because our nervous systems are trying to reroute signals past damaged areas, so everything takes more energy. I also know that spasticity really increases my fatigue levels because my muscles are working against me.

I agree with River about asking for an anti-fatigue medicine. It's worth a try.

I hope things are much nicer for you today/this weekend in the NE. It's warming up here beginning today. The snow's melting.... again. :D

No way are you overweight! You are a string bean!

Maybe instead of concentrating on losing weight, think about eating healthier?

Or maybe it IS the weather.

I do hope you'll start feeling better when you see spring at your doorstep!

karousel 03-26-2009 02:26 PM

Twink I am trying very hard to eat healthier. I think if I do that, these 20 or so extra pounds should come off or I'll at least look better and if not that, then feel better.

The sun has been out for a few days now. I have a bit more energy but still feel that veil over my mind. I did a lot of yard work to day and I feel the good kind of tired but also feel that sluggishness (is that even a word?). Maybe every day I'll start to feel a little bit better!!

I hope you are all right that it's the weather. Thanks for your words of encouragement!

the extra weight could be a factor in your fatigue.
do you do some exercise? like some walking? that may help over time.

also, MS fatigue is common and it's real.
one of the hardest things i had to learn was to listen to my body. to stop when it said stop and go home and take a nap. i always feel better after i wake up.

karousel 03-26-2009 05:30 PM

Nursenancy, I definitely agree with you that the extra weight is not helping my fatigue but in fact making it worse. Walking is my second choice for exercise, yard work and gardening is my favorite. I loose track of time in the yard! I wish taking a nap would help with the fatigue but even after a 2 hour nap I'm still exhausted and dragging.

Maybe all the good vibes I am getting from all of you together with mother nature and the sunshine, I'll be feeling better soon!

Hey K!!! Glad you had a good check up! I just had a bunch of labwork done and found out my Vit D levels were dangerously low. The Dr said that could have been contributing to my fatigue. I am now on meds for it.

Glad you had your levels checked. Let's hope nice weather will stick around and we all feel better. Sunshine is so therapeutic.

Friend2U 03-27-2009 12:49 AM

Happy your health checked out well, in spite of the ms. I hope you have luck with healthy eating and regain some of your energy. I know it sure can be the ms. But, being as healthy as possible can hopefully help ease up the fatigue somewhat. You are in my thoughts! Spring is going to help us all feel a little better!
