strange sensations making clothes not comfy

Does it drive anyone else to go wonko when strange sensations make your clothes feel extremely uncomfortable.

I have a sensation in my left leg right now that feels like someone is pulling my jeans against my leg and it hurts...only thing is...I wasnt wearing my jeans when I first noticed it! (wearing cutoff sweat shorts that are not tight at all)

When I do have my jeans on, it's really not comfy at all. I'm constantly having to tug at my clothes this week. My t-shirts feel like they're twisting around my back (and they're not actually doing that)

I'm starting to think that maybe I should just join a nudist colony so that I can walk around nekkid instead of wearing my clothes that are just not comfy to wear.

I dont normally like to wear skirts, but I'm about to pull one out of my closet and wear it for the next few days in the hopes that it'll feel better than wearing jeans or pants do.

I'm sure I'm feeling like this because I had that dental work 2 weeks ago and my body is still a bit irritated with me and it's picking on me now.

My left foot and leg feel warm, and kind of an (un)cool tingly feeling at the same time. The thigh is where my jeans feel like it's twisting around my leg. I'm just not a happy camper right now.

Hi Erin, I get the MS Hug (banding around the bra area) from the back all the way around to the front of the chest. Some get it around the extremities. Do you think it could be that?

The link below lists all sorts of odd sensations and pain MS can cause.

Types of MS-Related Pain

http://www.mult-sclerosis.org/news/J...eSymptoms.html

Band-like pain in torso or extremities (Jeffery, 2000)

Caused by a lesion in the spinal cord, this pain is characterized by intense pressure or squeezing in a girdle-like pattern around the torso.
May respond partially to phenytoin or gabapentin.
For resistant cases, benzodiazepines may be helpful.

It might be some weird banding...it's on the inside of my left leg...up towards...well....ummm...It's above the knee, below the waist. At least it's not always constantly painful.

I've got a very slight fever going on right now, and one tonsil feels like it's going to try to make it's escape. (craptastic...)

I'm popping Tylenol right now...and then I guess I'm going to go lay down and watch television for the rest of the night from the comfort of my bed.

Ears are itching like crazy too.

I've read some MSers get "tight stocking Syndrome." When I taught many autistic kids could not stand the rubbing of clothes labels and parents were always cutting those out. MSers get "over-stim-ed" too IMHO. I never wear pants (unless I know company's coming) but I feel like I always feel like I have thin cotton pajama bottoms on. My jeans feel lousy also because I've gained not weight, but everything shifted. I'm cold, I'm hot. Like Goldilocks nothing is ever just right.

Two or three years ago I had to quit wearing jeans. Just couldnt wear them...they felt weird every where, especially where most jeans have the little metal grommett-like thingies and where some of the stitching for the pockets go...and especially the zippers.

Last year I found some decent "mommy-jeans" at Kmart. (they're not pregnancy pants, but the jeans that have elastic and no zippers) Those have been ok, until this week. Now they're just not comfy. Hopefully whatever is bugging me and making the weird sensations irritate me will go away soon.

It's been cold here, but I think I'll start wearing my skorts early this year. Hopefully I can find a new source for skorts this year. The ones I have now are really comfy, but they're starting to wear out some.

Some days I just can't stand any clothes touching my body. Kinda feels like my skin is extra sensitive, especially bras (my worst enemy).

I have the tight stocking syndrome from my chest to my ankles.

Consequently, tight clothes tend to bother me. I need the "right" material and even then, by the evening I want to put on my pre-pajama-bajamas.

Hope you are feeling better.

Lady, you just explained the sensation I get (banding). Like you said, around the bra area. Feels like a too tight t-shirt :p Luckily when I get that, it's more annoying than anything else.

I get cuffing/banding around my arms as well. Comes and goes.

Ooooh, i'm with you here. I had the itching ear thing!!! would gladly have chopped it off.
more recently, i feel like my knee is bleeding and its dripping down my leg. There are some clothes i just can't wear. and i feel like my bra strap is slipping down all the time.

Tags on my shirt at the back of my neck really bother me. I usually rip the tags off.

I buy the tagless shirts that a lot of companies are producing now. I hate the tagged t-shirts.

I also buy my clothing so that it's too large. (4x t-shirts) Because if it's loose fitting, it doesnt feel like it's trying to strangle me. I dont like it when my clothing feels like I'm being squeezed to death by a snake.

dmplaura 04-11-2009 11:20 PM

LOL, I hear that. I swim in my clothing. Baggy is good!

Hi, I was recently surprised by an article on my site about Dr. Chandy who practices in England. I'd forgotten that it said some of his patients with Multiple Sclerosis responded well to B12 replacement therapy...

When I read your description of how jeans no longer felt comfy, it reminded me that when I was very low on B12 I could barely stand the seam in my silky slip against my body...

And yes, I didn't have to have on my slip with its seam in order to feel the discomfort.

My "discomfort" felt like a third degree sunburn a lot of the time, but sometimes it was a more complicated discomfort.

B12 can play a part in how we feel when we have serious health problems aside from low B12. For instance, I had tetanus and couldn't get a doctor to see me because I didn't have enough money... later my home was foreclosed and I got to see the Homeless Doctor (not him, his patients) and then I was finally able to get the Metronidazol to kill the bacteria.

Which I mention because when I didn't have anything else to take I used a lot of extra B12 shots... and after a number of weeks my peripheral neuropathy began to go away, and then it went almost entirely away. I wasn't expecting that. I was just hoping I could keep breathing all night long, night after night.

What I mean is, B12 didn't cure my tetanus but it did improve how I felt...

Take a look at a list of symptoms of low B12, and if you are dealing with several of them, get some methylcobalamin lozenges and try them for a couple months, I'd say the 5mg lozenges, and keep notes so that you can look back and see if there were changes which you might have forgotten once the improvements grew familiar.
.

I have a vial of B12 and some syringes. Havent done that as a shot yet (hopefully the B12 is still good) I might need to refill that Rx if it's gone bad. (need to check with the pharmacist for that)

I have the wrong gauge needles for it (pharmacy didnt have the right kind) so I need to go find the right ones. My dad's a nurse, so he's going to be giving me the B12 shots. (cheaper than a nurse visit at the doctor's office)

Oh, for sure. The shots used to cost me $25 each until a doctor prescribed a vial and had his nurse instruct me on giving myself the shots.

I prefer the methylcobalamin lozenges now. I had so many shots that there was barely a place on my thigh left to give one... at first I didn't think the lozenges worked. But that was because I forgot that 1mg lozenge used daily for a month is about the same as one shot... so when I went from a shot a day to one lozenge, I was 29 shots short. So to speak.

I know it's not a cure, but it helps with a lot of symptoms. :)

The needles are intense, by the bye. An inch and a half... I was afraid to lose weight, I kept thinking I'd hit bone... lol :winky:

Sometimes I get that fingernails on a chalkboard feeling with certain fabrics. It drives me nuts. I have to dress somewhat professionally at work, but on the weekends I wear sweat pants and tee-shirts. Bras are also my worst enemy, and it's the first thing I take off when I get home. I also get a tight banding feeling around my abdomen and bra area.

My doc gives me B-12 shots once a month, and so far I haven't noticed much difference, but this thread has given me hope. Thanks!
