Groceries

I need to go grocery shopping but I am on this "sweets kick" and everything I lay my hands on is a sweet. For 3-4 months I was drinking gallons of sweetened ice tea and I gained 9 lbs. Now I have quit that but I lurk around the bakery department - HELP ME !!

Alffe 04-12-2009 12:54 PM

drink a big glass of water and eat an apple before you go shopping. And stay out of the baking aisle. *grin.

Let's see...dyngus day lunch....time? :D

barbo 04-12-2009 01:33 PM

Time

11AM? I bet there will be a crowd.

Doody 04-12-2009 02:03 PM

:p I wanna go too!

And don't ask me about what to do! I have a hard time staying away from Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia.

But it doesn't stop there. Also have to have chocolate syrup and pecans with it.

:thud:

Alffe 04-13-2009 08:28 AM

Doody, Just wait until you have a cookie skillet at the 19th Hole. :D

Curious 04-13-2009 08:44 AM

Can you beleive I ....the choccy addict...rarely ever eat anything sweet besides fruit? Didn't buy any Easter candy. Not a jelly bean or M&M.

I swear by my cinnamon.

Yep Barb, always eat before you go grocery shopping.

Alffe 04-13-2009 08:53 AM

Then there is something in your box you'll need to give away. *grin

Curious 04-13-2009 08:58 AM

Box?

I'm sure there is a teen girl around here somewhere...I think her middle name is Sweetaholic.

If it's gooey with chocolate I'm in. Didn't we go there for burgers one of my trips? If it's the one I'm thinking of, YUMMY!

FeelinGoofy 04-15-2009 07:53 AM

Chocolate i can resist.... to much of it gives me migraines, but cheesecakes and stuff like that... a total different story....

Alffe 04-15-2009 09:26 AM

In my old age I seem to be acquiring a taste for sweets! I've always been a sourie, salty, person...with potatoes on the side please. *grin but NOW..well it's down right scary.

And Doody, you need to know that there is something called Ben & Jerry Cherry Garcia??? in my freezer....always choc. sauce here and would those be chopped pecans or halves?

try to concentrate on coming here and being spoiled.

Doody 04-15-2009 09:58 AM

LOL any size pecan!

Now answer my question about the 19th hole! Have we been there? I'm thinking of one that was on a corner?

Love the red chair purchase!

I should do that, concentrate on GOOD things.

Alffe 04-15-2009 11:07 AM

LOL...you, who can't remember anything..yes, it's on the corner and it's on the schedule. Did we "do" Redamacks? Gamble first and then eat! :D http://www.redamaks.com/site/index.htm

Doody 04-15-2009 11:19 AM

I know, I don't remember anything, LOL! But I do remember that place for some reason really well. I can see the inside of it and even the parking lot in the back where we parked.

Nope, haven't done Redamaks yet and I think you said Mr. Alffe wants to go too. Mr. Gamblin Man? :D

hey barbo,

along with eating before grocery shopping, try to eat a handful of nuts.

There is a planter's nut-rition (South Beach Diet recommended---note, I am not endorsing the South beach diet for I am on SEE Food diet---but I always loved nuts)

eating a handful of nuts can curb your appetite, have more protein to make you less hungry.

all those calories from the sweets...gulp...I worry more about your possible diabetes and heart...

just to SCARE you about what they can do TO you...

pics of diabetic foot ulcers (my grandmother had them eventually)

heart

the trick might also not to go cold turkey but cutting back.

For example, keep a note on how much sweet teas you drink a day. If you usually drink 8 glasses, drink 4 for three days, then 2....subsitute the rest with water.

Also, we dilute our teas. Starting with just 1/3 cup to 1/2 then 2/3 to now, almost no sweet tea. We usually do 1/3 sweet tea and 2/3 unsweetened tea.

Some calls this the "Arnold Palmer" but he likes it 1/2 and 1/2 of each sweet and unsweetened. :)
