Cell Phones???
My DD changed her cell phone package to Verizon and I think I finally have to admit that, I'm to old for these new fangled contraptions.
She gave me a Blackberry that does everything but make my lunch and I hate it. I'm wondering if they make them a little BIGGER, so I can see what the heck I'm doing? The buttons are so tiny, I have to use the edge of a nail to operate and then, I hit the wrong dang buttons half of the time. My eyes are not that great and I feel like I need a magnifying glass to see it. I don't want to hurt my DD's feelings, but I want a cell phone I can hold without tweezers and can see without a mag-glass. Is there a old coot cell phone out there? Help me out here, please, before I call DD and make a fool of myself..:D :grouphug: |
My mom is on my Verizon and has the same problem. I've told her to go and exchange her phone for a bigger button one. Plus she can choose what she wants.
You racked up on the Blackberry! I got my mom the free one. lol |
My Blackberry was free, too. Maybe DD will get me a bigger buttoned one...Ya Think?
Thanks, Sandy.. |

I went the cheap way. It's also the way that they hate on all the crime shows - the dreaded prepaid cell phone. I have a basic trachphone that makes calls! Somewhere in the system I know it has a phone book and I can assign numbers to people but I just turn the phone on and dial the number and that's the simple way. I never turn it on unless I want to call out. I want total control over the phone. I don't want someone calling me when I'm out eating or at a freinds house. I don't need for my phone to tell me if my picture on the wall is straight or where a restruant is. It doesn't even take pictures! I pay about $120/year for enough minutes to last me all year long cause I only use it when I want to. No contract. It does have lousy reception inside buildings. But I don't care.

My mom has macular degeneration and she has a good size cell phone
with big numbers, its great!!!!:) |
I don't think cell phones have anything to do with age, to be honest.. I've never understood them, and still need a manual whenever I *shudder* have to use one.

We are not giving up our old Nokias....they work fine, don't take pictures, or do anything exotic.
We don't need fancy stuff on the phone. I have a camera for that. I have a Sansa for music. I have CD in my car. What more do I need? We are off the contract and the companies are calling us left and right to sign up for some package or other. All the new contracts are more $$ than we pay now. Why switch? I tried to use my son's iphone last summer. I did get on here briefly, but his touch screen didn't like my fingers. His battery life is very short. And the whole thing was slow. I do like the koi video game that's in it, but that is about all! :Dunno: |

I saw a catalog for old coots - will keep my eyes out for that. might They had a simple cell phone with HUGE keys and maybe it takes a Verizon Sim card. I need one too!!!

You're so cute, SalPal!! I sometimes wonder how we got along w/o our cell phones before. My plan just sent me a notice that I can get a new Blackberry, but I only use my phone for duh duh duhhhhhhh~~ making phone calls and if I'd ever get robbed, I'd take a picture of his ulgy mug for evidence.
When I'm home, I use my landline. |
HIJACK IN PROGRESS!
DM, please get over to my hotel thread and give me some advice about bed bugs! LOL Cindy already beat you. Back to your regularly schedule programming. Ha! |

They did have a very basic phone that I considered before I settled on this music playing phone. I prefer LG is why I got the one I did. The following phone is a Samsung Knack: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...CompletedOrder= |
I guess part of my problem with cell phiones is that they cost so darn much. These families are struggling, credit cardas maxed out but they all have cell phones, even all the little kids. Both my daughters have terrible credit ratings, in big debt but yet pay well over $100/month for their phones.
Kids these days don't learn how to comprimise. We were a family of 7. We all had to use the bathroom in the morning, we had one phone and one TV. |
I hear what you're saying, Doyd. I don't need a fancy, expensive cell, just one in case my land line goes out..
I'm on DD's Verizon contract and my line/phone only cost her $10 per month, extra. I'm waiting till Sunday, when DD brings my new replacement phone, to see if it's better for me?? |
