Doody - we just heard about your mom. Moi and I are keeping you ALL in our thoughts and prayers. I know this is a very tough thing for her to go through and you, who love her, to watch.

We are leaving for PA and won't have regular computer access but will check in as we are able.

We love you ((((((all the Doody's))))))

Oh, thank you, you're all so wonderful.

I'm tired, I just got home from the hospital.

Mom fell down some stairs yesterday at 3:15 pm. (It hasn't even been 2 years since she fell down her steps at home and crushed her heel and broke her ankle.) :(

She hit left side of her head and has a concussion. She lost more blood than they would like but is doing okay in that department. Keeping an eye on that. It knocked her unconscious. Ambulance brought her back to this town (they were visitng friends in another town).

She fractured her pelvis and demolished her elbow. I won't describe it, too horrifying. She finally went into surgery at 4:15 this afternoon and it took almost 2 hours to repair it.

She is so scared and confused and has no idea what's going on but she has been really doped up. Problem is, the strong drugs, fentanly, didn't get rid of the pain during the night and it was just god awful. Finally this morning her doc showed up and started giving her Ativan and that finally calmed her down so she could sleep.

When she leaves the hospital depends on when she can move around. She hasn't been able to so far. They have had to use a slider to get her off the bed each time she's been moved because she's in too much pain all over and hard to move her bottom end because of the fractured pelvis.

At least she had color this morning. Last night I didn't think she was goning to make it.

Poor dad, well...he's very tired. He's 86 and she'll be 83 next month.

Daughter stayed with me last night, tonight and will the rest of the weekend. Bless her heart.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you.

Ahhhh Doodysis. I am so very sorry for her pain. :(

You have many many prayers coming from Texas. I've added her to a few prayer chains at church.

Give you Dad a big ole Monkey hug from me. I know he has to be hurting to see his wife in such pain.

Praying for the best Doody !!!!!!

Doody 04-18-2009 04:11 PM

Thank you.

Her delirium really had us scared with all the fentanyl getting pumped into her. Ativan is what finally helped.

Today is much better. She is cognizant and visiting with people. They bathed her and got most of the blood off her finally. Tried to get her to take a few steps and that didn't work too well. They are going to do that again tomorrow morning.

Her elbow took a lot of repair. Couple wires, screws, plate and bone graft.

I'm just relieved that today she is so much more with it. Her delirium on the drugs was very scary.

I love you guys, thank you. I will pass along all your thoughts and prayers.

BlueMajo 04-28-2009 09:55 PM

How is mom doing Doody ?

Praying for her.

Doody 04-29-2009 07:20 PM

Thank you so very much you guys. First I'd like to tell you that my mom was so touched when I told her that my internet friends were sending up prayers and keeping her in their thoughs. She said please tell them I thank them so very much and it's helping me. :)

We moved her to a nursing home this last Friday. That was tough. She was not happy. But medicare won't pay for her to continue therapy at the hospital. They will cover for her to be at 2 different nursing homes here and one is really the pits. It's been cited in the past.

This one isn't exactly where you'd wanna live. But the other available care centers are huge expensive!

Yesterday and today we were pretty excited because she took 10 steps yesterday and today 15. What surprises me a little is that her obliterated arm isn't what bothers her, it's that fractured pelvis.

She wants outta there so she is trying hard, and she looks a lot better.

Thank you so much. :grouphug:
