My Sunday, So Far....

Why does everything go wrong on a Sunday, when you have to pay double the cost for help and repair...Huh?

My DD with rug rats in tow, came over this morning for her usual Sunday visit and I sent her to the basement to get something for me......she yelped as she stepped into a foot of water!!

The plumber guy has been here for about 2 hrs now and it seems the sewer has back up and flooded my basement. He has figured out what is wrong, has opened up the clog and is now draining my basement..

I can't wait until he hands me the bill..

Usually It's just me getting sick on the weekend with no doc, but this time my house got sick..

Ok, I'm done biotching, now....and I'm still not smoking, just vaping....So, How is your Sunday.

karousel 04-19-2009 01:46 PM

Obviously compared to your Sunday, mine is going super great!!

I'm sorry you're having the problem with your sewer -- especially on a Sunday. Doesn't that usually happen, just when it's most inconvenient and more costly?

Blessings2You 04-19-2009 02:03 PM

Let's see what I can come up with. Hmmm. Okay, how about: thank God it happened on Sunday when your daughter was there to discover it! There might have been lots more damage/cost if you hadn't noticed it for a few days.

How did I do?

Can't top that. Just wanted to say that I am sorry this happened.

SallyC 04-19-2009 02:39 PM

The cost...$290.00... Dayam!!

DM 04-19-2009 02:54 PM

Yikes Salpal! That stinkeths, but glad your DD found the problem before you started floating. :Sinking: We had a hot water heater give out one time and did it ever make a mess. Take care and keep ''vaping''!!!

*I agree~ anything that is gonna cost you to repair doubles on Sundays, even our bodies!!!*

:hug::hug::hug::hug:

Dejibo 04-19-2009 06:08 PM

Look at the bright side. Your DD found it BEFORE it blew out the heater, or hot water heater, or ruined whatever you had stored down there. You didnt have to call a professional cleaning company or electrician.

Im sorry things got wet. I hope it didnt spoil your visit with your DD. hang in there.

SallyC 04-19-2009 06:50 PM

You guys, thanks, I am seeing the bright side of this debachle.....I am so fortunate and thankful for the minor damage that, could have been monumental.:Bow:

:grouphug:

AZjanie 04-19-2009 09:18 PM

Spa broke!!

DH got in the spa today and when I went out to get in too; I noticed water all over the patio!

We have a leak and it blew the breaker and won't work now since it's a safety thing that it shuts off the breaker.

We called and left a message for the spa guy to come Monday and fix it so I hope he will be able to repair it.

Bummer! I didn't get to do the spa thing today but at least it is still under warranty so hopefully what ever went wrong is covered but whaddya bet it ain't covered??

SallyC 04-19-2009 10:07 PM

Oh no, Janie.. I hope it's covered.

Bummer, Sal! But, you're right, it could have been monumental and it's good that you kept your sense of humor. FYI, installing an indoor pool takes a tad more planning. ;)

When bad things happen (and they do) the only way I can get thriugh it is tell myself at least I have a water heater in the basement of my house to break, a frig, stove and dishwasher in the kitchen of my house, a pool filter, etc. you get it. sometimes use humor (Ha!) and perspective is hard. I have to tell myself maybe I can't walk, but I can afford the good wheelchair (insurance doesn't pay enough on it) It can be a cold comfort but all I've got. Ah Sally, always on weekends, I once had my stove break with 15 people invited for Thanksgiving dinner. Thank goodness they were all good sports. I cried anyway.

braingonebad 04-20-2009 08:36 AM

Kicker - I once had about 30 people over for a family reunion cookout. And then we had a tornado.

I guess we all have that *good planning* gene.

On the bright side, everyone was safe in my cruddy little embarrassing basement, no damage or nothin'.

:)

:hug::hug:s Sal

SandyC 04-20-2009 10:31 AM

Sal, my sewer backed up in my condo twice and I had everyone's poop from the neighborhood flooding my utility room and living room! I think I burned out brain cells bleaching everything. Just imagine me running around hopping over torpedos screaming "We've got other people's poop in our house!!!!"

Did you smile? That's a true story. It happened twice while we lived there, seriously.

barb02 04-20-2009 10:47 AM

Sandy -- YUCK!!!

Especially, if you don't want Poop in it..

SallyC 04-20-2009 11:08 AM

Oh, Sandy, thats awful :vomit2:. Thank heavens I have a basement and I only had minor backup in the shower, down there, when the drain blew off.. The rest of the basement was just water.

Dejibo 04-20-2009 11:21 AM

I hope all is dry and your feeling better today.

That has got to get an award for one of the grossest and funniest things I have read in quite a while!

AZjanie 04-20-2009 09:53 PM

YIKES!!

I can't imagine having poop especially OPP (other peoples poop) floating around in your basement! EWW!!

Still waiting on the spa guy to call back but a dead spa beats having a poopy basement.

I am counting my blessings.

Hope every thing is high and dry and smelling of roses. :D

AZjanie 04-22-2009 10:54 AM

My spa was repaired and just $120.00 which is a lot of money but could have been so much worse!!

We are up and running again. SpAHHHHH! ;)
