What do you do to escape?

When you need to take a "break" from MG. What do you do? :)

Hi. Music always helps me escape for awhile. Unless of course the music leads to dancing, then that's not helpful for long.

A good movie can do it. Designing something, if it isn't too time-consuming. And writing, though not for too long.

Sitting in the sunshine, in the Spring and Fall when it's not too hot, is really nice too - listening to the birds.

And as counterintuitive as it may sound, I like taking baths. A quiet place to think and be creative.

And sometimes I just need to whine about it all, to get MG out of my brain for awhile. Kind of like a cleansing scream! ;)

I read!

When I feel down, I read. It has always been my favorite escape. I also watch old movies or biographies. And I pray - a lot!

I like to eat chocolate - lots of it!

Then there are days when I just cry. It really helps!

Big, big hugs!

Music, music, music. I pick stuff to match my mood. Sometimes I go fill the spa tub up, light a bunch of smelly-good candles and crank up my MP3. I have quite an assortment, so if I'm feeling whiney, I listen to blues. When I want to really escape, I play the a hard rock songs with the really strong, fast beats. When I'm mellow it's the love songs.

Like Annie, I just can't resist the urge to dance to certain songs, so I avoid those when I'm too weak

When I'm able to drive, I love to go for a drive. If, like now, I can't, I strap on my neck brace and have my husband take me for a little ride. Does wonders to get away from the house!

Annie, Erin & Becky,
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will read while I sit in the sun, have a bit of chocolate and crank up my MP3 player!
Take care ~ Mel

Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Doris Day, Maureen O'hara, John Wayne...Old Movies. I just love them.
I pray a Lot, and Read. I do love to escape into a good clean novel when my eyes are co-operating.
Sitting out on our docks watching the mallard ducks. Admiring the flowers in my garden, love flowers.
nature. I just love nature. I wish I could hike, but I can go for a ride in the country. I love that.
Knitting, oil painting, crafts.
My family.
Love Lizzie

Aah yes! Heaven on earth!

Just be careful about sitting in the sun! That has been kicking my behind here lately - and I've always loved it so!!! But I have felt the energy drain after just 5-10 mins. in direct sun, even when the temp is no higher that 60. Maybe safer to just sit outside in the shade to read, eating the chocolate and cranking the MP3!

The chocolate won't get so melty that way!!!!!:D
Enjoy it!

I get a mani/pedi!

My children go off with dh and my wonderful niece comes over and gives me a manicure & pedicure!

I put on soft rock music & burn scented candles, get my mani/pedi and just relax for the day.

Gives me a chance to get MG off my brain as much as possible, even if it's for a little while.

Mother's Day is coming soon. I think I'm due for a facial this time.:D

Good for you. It's very theraputic and helps the brain re-order itself to find a good, fun, distraction! Use caution in how much you do, but ENJOY!

I know I love the Wheel of Fortune! I wish I was in Vegas right now!

Have fun!

Comedy, Drama ,Action, Horror - I think I like them all ! lol.... I even get sucked into LMN , before you can get up from one movie, they start another & suck you in again !
I will give you all my run down soon, It isn't something I like to relive, like many of you all diagnosis was hell.

I love cooking, and just bought myself a decent mixer(thanks to my darling horse I had to sell) so this make cooking easier.
I also read, love reading and always return to my favorites if I'm especially down.
