Bye Bye Pontiac

So, the news just announced that GM is dumping the Pontiac brand.

Not a surprise to me, they haven't been selling well for years, they tried to renew the brand with Oprah giving away 350 of them on her show, and making the Solstice. (I think the solstice is an ugly car btw)

Should have been done a long time ago. They should have 3 brands in GM. Cadillac for the luxury cars and suvs, Chevy for mid price and discount cars and small suvs, and GMC for trucks and mid range suvs. Having any more is useless duplication of effort and ends up competing with themselves.

Im telling ya, they need to stick to making those big honking SUVs. :p

As long as they don't let Chevy go I am good.

As a product of the middle class lifestyle that GM gave it's workers throughout the years this whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach.

My grandpa started with them in Detroit when he was 19 back in the 30's. He worked his whole life there and while he and my grandma didn't go to college my mom got her masters at Michigan thanks to that job. Our family went from working class to middle class because of my grandpa's job and I've always been partial to GM vehicles as a result. I've rarely been disappointed. What a sad time. :(

I guess that's how I feel. I'll always want the option of buying a corvette.

I've had 2 Pontiacs. 1976 Ventura Sprint and 1986 6000. Both good cars. Hmmmm..... I've totaled 2 cars in my life. Both Pontiacs...

I'm a product of the auto industry. I'm saddened by its demise. The 2 plants I worked at are both gone (Chevy Spring & Bumper in Livonia and GMAD Assembly in Ypsi).
