You’re going to laugh . . .

You’re going to laugh at me when you hear what I just bought; a Hawaii Hula Chair. After you finish rofling, consider this: I watched all the videos on the net about the chair. I looked at every manufacturer that I could find. It seems that this exercise helps with the posture muscles – the core muscles. There are days when I go to bed early simply because I can no longer sit up. I also read a review, (by a website that reviews exercise gear and does not sell Hula Chairs) suggesting that it might help with balance and coordination. These are all things with which I have significant problems. Also, I think it would work on the same muscles that are used by that Wii balance game/exercise, and I can tell you that my Wii really has helped me with balance. So I’ll let you know how it turns out. I suppose the worst that can happen is I have just bought an expensive conversation piece.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi, Marion.

I have never heard of the Hula Chair so, I went googling and found this:

Ummm, good luck with the Hula Chair, your braver than I am :D

Kitty 04-30-2009 07:41 PM

They had one of these on the "Ellen" show once and it was hilarious! She tried making a phone call while sitting in it and got all tangled up in the phone cord....it was funny.

I think it'd make me sea sick!! :o

DM 04-30-2009 08:23 PM

I think I threw my back out just watching the video. Holy Moly Marion; you'll have to let us know how you like it. I'm a little seasick, too!

SallyC 04-30-2009 09:30 PM

And Y'all think I'm a silly old woman.. :D

Uh, Marion, honey, did you try it first? It looks like it could be dangerous....Be careful and don't hurt yourself..

Friend2U 04-30-2009 10:47 PM

Here's Ellen...3 1/2 minutes of hilarity (is that a word?)!!! :D
I could never do a hula hoop as a child, so I for sure won't be trying this. But, having said that, I sure admire anyone who can do this! WOW!

There was a time I could Hula-hoop like you couldn't belive, years of sit-ups and leg lunges made me strong and sleek, I'm in a chair now, but sit up, transfer my selfamnd have good core strength, I think that chair would throw anyone, if core muscles are weak you better hold on. There are better core exercises out there I think. We have a member who owns a gym, bet she knows. Who in a chair can recommend anything about exercising? Or not in a chair.

Do not. (Of course 'm older too and think my 17 year olds are both being just kind and patient with me sometimes confusing Mom stuff for MS stuff.)

marion06095 05-01-2009 07:20 AM

Oh, ye of little faith! Seriously, though, I’ll be the first to admit it if buying the chair was an exercise if futility (pun intended). I just have a good feeling about this product because of my lack of core muscle strength. In any case I am sure that it won’t be the most foolish decision I have ever made in my life. You should meet my ex-husband!

Kitty 05-01-2009 07:53 AM

Well, if nothing else you can get a good laugh out of it!

It'd be a great party game!! After one or two drinks the possibilities are endless!! :D

Hey, Marion, Ellen D. did a consumer report on it, check it out:

Dejibo 05-01-2009 09:37 AM

im thinking of getting the pilates chair. havent made up my mind yet.

DM 05-01-2009 09:40 AM

I LMAO at Ellen and the audience member trying the chairs out. That's one wild ride!

Those were two pretty fit women and they couldn't control their movements; I'm skeptical Marion, so puleeeez be careful.

Oh, and Kick?? You're not old either, b/c wer'e the same age and that would make me *gasp* older too!

kicker 05-01-2009 09:44 AM

I look good FOR my age. Is that a back-handed compliment or what? FOR my age.

azoyizes 05-01-2009 09:55 AM

Wow, that's amazing. I'd never heard of a Hula chair before. Thanks for the videos.

Does it have a seatbelt? I would worry about falling off. I'd also worry about my neck and back getting wrenched around while riding that chair. It reminds me of a carnival ride, like a tilt-a-whirl.

I think some sort of exercise like Pilates would be safer and more effective.

If you get it, please let us know how you do with it. Maybe you will get a lot of good exercise from the chair. Just be careful with it! :)

dmplaura 05-02-2009 01:02 AM

That chair looks like a ton of fun, but like the tester in the video showed, pretty difficult to work while sitting on one. :p

I was a little concerned for just a split second when the man said
"I can really feel it on my a---." I was much relieved after realizing he said "abs". Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

kicker 05-02-2009 06:44 PM

The man was talking Finance and bad assets. DH heard bad-a**es and figured that was their answer to economy. It could work....

SandyC 05-02-2009 08:00 PM

Wow! Let us kow how that thing works for you. Please be careful. It looks like it could send you soaring to the skies! LOL

I think I am in fairly good shape but I know for a fact I could not do that chair. Although it looks like you can get a good cardio workout! Ellen sure was out of breath. lol
