I'm a happier camper...AC is fixed! to the tune of $170 to diagnosis and replace the fan capacitor. :thud: At least it wasn't something major. Good news the house went from 82 to 70 degrees in about 15 minutes! :D Too bad I can't afford to keep it that cool all the time!:eek: 75 degrees keeps me sane.;)

YEAH!!! I would be dying without my a/c. I heard on the radio that it is supposed to be around 100 today. :thud: It was in the mid 70s at 7:30 this morning.

hollym 05-06-2009 07:08 PM

Every year, it seems we have to have our a/c fixed. The people who lived here before us put it in and didn't really pick the right system for the house. It's always a battle to keep it running but our neighbor is an HVAC guy and does a lot of repairs in trade for beer plus the cost of parts!!

NaeNae 05-07-2009 05:20 AM

AC is on here, work has been crazy, everyone thinks they have the flu, so far none really do. Taking the kids out of town for the weekend to have some fun. Now in addition to my MS I was diagnosed with Diabetes so started meds for that too. I shot the tube on Tuesday on our big new MRI machine, they had me in the tube for 2 1/2 hours while they tried out their bells and whistles! By then I was begging to be let out! Hope u guys have a great day!

JustWeave 05-07-2009 08:16 AM

Mornin' all. Well the sickest kid goes to the doc this afternoon. Don't know if it is a flu or just a head cold but nothing seems to make it better.

I work today and have my fingers crossed that it will be a really slow morning. I don't care what the afternoon is like as I won't be there.:p Either I'm having a bad week or the job honeymoon is over. I hope it is just a rough week but I've been there for almost five months now.:eek: :D I guess everything has to lose its sparkle eventually. :(

Must make a phone call then head for work.

Have a great one! :hug::grouphug::hug:

soxmom 05-07-2009 08:21 AM

Good morning everyone!!!

renee...sorry to hear about your new diagnosis....I hope you will be
able to keep it easily controlled with your meds.:hug::hug:

tktc...glad you got your ac fixed.:)

weav...enjoy your day at work:)

fin, kelly, sandy,tricia, holly, wiz, frank, debd, all yous....:hug:

MY UPDATE: finally a quiet day..its rainy too so I may take a little nap:)

tkrik 05-07-2009 08:42 AM

Holly - What a deal! You are so lucky to have a neighbor like that.

Renee - Sorry about the diabetes. I hope they can get in under control quickly. And, 2 1/2 hours in the tube would definitely do me in.:eek: Yikes! I hope the results of the MRI and good with no changes.:hug:

Sox - Not raining here but will be hot as heck, 100's??. UGH! A nap sounds great!

Weave - Sorry about the job honeymoon being over with. It may just be that this week you are just having an off week. I can't believe you have been there 5 months already. Where does time go? It seems like you just got that job.

Hi everyone else! Thinking of you all as well and hope everyone has a good day today!:hug::grouphug:

FinLady 05-07-2009 09:08 AM

Pam, so glad you got the A/C fixed

Renee, sorry to hear about the diabetes dx. :hug: Hope the meds help. Have fun on the out of town excursion.

Weave, hope it's just a rough week. :hug: I can't believe it's been five months either. Pretty cool

Sox, enjoy your quiet day today. :hug:

Holly, lol! I love guys who do stuff for beer. We have a few friends like that. :)

Trish, stay cool with those temps like that. :hug:

~~~~~~~~~~
Morning all :) Have my usual cup of coffee in hand, and so not ready to start my day. :rolleyes:
Had some bad spasms last night. ick, ick, ick. So not really wanting to be awake right now, but needed to get up to take meds. :D Got one that absolutely has to be taken every 24, so yipee.
My slug day was actually productive yesterday, lol. Got in contact with a few people, submitted my artwork to a couple of places, got reserved to do two art festivals (July and Sept.), have a pending sale of some artwork - and all without leaving the comfy of my couch. :D I love my laptop!
Hoping everyone has a good day today. :grouphug::grouphug:
Kitty 05-07-2009 09:30 AM
It's cloudy and rainy here today. I probably won't go out anywhere. Having spasms in my shoulder and back this morning. I took a Baclofen so maybe that will help.
I've been watching a little sparrow feed her baby this morning under the bird feeder. They're so sweet.......I enjoyed watching them (and so did my cats). I'm thankful that I now notice little things like that. In my pre-MS life I probably wouldn't have taken the time to stop and watch.
Well, Kevin and his GF didn't get the house they were hoping for. Someone else came along who could pay cash and offered more than the asking price. I told them that they didn't want to be somewhere they weren't supposed to be. There's something else out there for them. But, they were disappointed because they really liked the house and the area it was in.
I've done 1 load of laundry, cleaned my bathroom and run the dishwasher. We're having spaghetti for dinner so I still have to make the sauce later this afternoon. Probably will squeeze in a nap at some point.
Everyone have a good day! :grouphug:
hollym 05-07-2009 10:25 AM
I'm copying this from my other thread in case some of you haven't followed that one:
Just wanted to thank you all and let you know that Grandma is at peace. She died at 11:32 last night. We had called hospice to come over because she was really struggling to breathe. Yesterday she was really totally unresponsive all day, but I know she could hear because she did react to sounds. At one point I hugged her and stroked her face and told her it was OK to go. I told her to say hi from me to my Mom, Grandpa and Uncle Doc when she gets there.
I just can't quite believe she is gone now. I walk past her room and she isn't there. I miss her so much.
FinLady 05-07-2009 10:45 AM
Holly, I am so sorry for your loss. :hug::hug::hug:
SandyC 05-07-2009 10:53 AM
TK, air conditioning is a must where you are! LOL
Renee, ugh, that sucks. Do they have you checking your sugars everyday and taking insulin? :hug:
Weave, sorry the honeymoon is over. It is probably picking up due to school letting out.
Sox, quiet days are great! Enjoy your time.
Holly, I am so sorry about granmda but am honored you took us through your journey with her. :hug:
Trish, stay cool where you are girl! How's your daughter doing?
Kitty, it's been raining a lot by you hasn't it? Jim can be the weatherman around here with his aches from the damp weather coming.
Jenn, hope all your work gets accepted!
My update: Having coffee and then taking showers. Maybe take a ride and enjoy the beautiful day.
:hug: to all!
tkrik 05-07-2009 11:09 AM
(((Holly))) I am sorry to hear about your grandma. I know how much you loved her and cared for her. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.:hug::hug::hug:
soxmom 05-07-2009 11:31 AM
holly......so sorry about your Grandmother.:hug:
you were such an amazing granddaughter to her, Im sure she must have
been a extraordinary grandma to you!!!!! Im sure she is at peace now.:hug::hug:
Kelly........sorry the kids didnt get their house, you are correct..the
right house will come along for them:hug:
fin....feel better:)
tricia....waving hello...can you see me?????:Wave-Hello:
tkrik 05-07-2009 11:45 AM
I can see you clearly Sox! LOL
It is now 9:40 and it is hot as heck out. I was sitting out there painting as it WAS nice in the shade. Not anymore. But I got 3 watercolors started and now just need to embellish them somehow.
Oh, I so need to get out more. I did start a thread about DD19's embarrassing moment yesterday. We had a good time yesterday not only with my friends but at the mall as well. Lots of laughs. She now swears she will not go in to any more popular "teen" stores with me again. I got hit on by a 20 something year old who was working at some store. Poor guy must have been lonely.
We were looking at flip flops ($20.00 for a pair of flip flops!:eek:) and he was saying that one pair would be great to wear to a Dave Matthews concert. I love Dave Matthews! So we started this long discussion about him, his music, his band, etc. Then the kid invites me to go with him to the DMB concert THAT night! LMAO! Yeah, right!:rolleyes:
soxmom 05-07-2009 11:46 AM
tricia....was he cute??????:D
tkrik 05-07-2009 11:55 AM
Sox - LMAO! I really don't know. I just saw him as some young kid, young enough to be my son, and didn't assess whether he was cute. LOL Now had he been closer to my age I would have noticed in a heartbeat.;) I'll have to ask DD19 if she thought he was cute.:p
SandyC 05-07-2009 12:18 PM
LMAO Trish that is so awesome isn't it? You go girl! You still got it!
tkrik 05-07-2009 12:48 PM
I could just see me calling DBF and telling DD17 that I won't be home that night as I was going to a DMB concert with some kid I met at Buckles. LMAO!
JustWeave 05-07-2009 12:59 PM
Well I survived a two hour repeat of Tues. at work today. :( I work four hours Tues. and only two hours today and tomorrow. Like some of you I find it hard to believe I've been there 5 months already. Time flies! I've loved every minute of it up until now. I'm still hoping it is just an off week. I have one more thing to learn and then I'll know all my responsibilities. This last item needs lots of clean up but once I get it sorted out I think it will be easy to do. Time consuming maybe but not hard. I should be okay then. So one really slow day when I am there and I should get it figured out and be fine. Just give me one really slow day. :D Please! I'm begging!!
Renee- Sorry to see you have another health issue to deal with. :hug:
Kitty- Sorry to hear Kevin and GF didn't get the house. Something even better is waiting for them.
Holly- So sorry for your loss.:hug:
Geez. Looks like we really need a group hug. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
sabimax 05-07-2009 01:15 PM
Holly HUGSSSs
TK hehehe woohoooo young man lover you lol
GROUP HUGSS TO ALL:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
Just took a very long walk with the two in the double stroller... by the end I wanted to be in the stroller too!! But I did make it home. I always carry the cell phone, last couple years I started that when walking with the kids or alone. (as few times I have fallen with balance issues, or just struggled at end of walk with my leg being weak)
PT is going good, the right leg is getting stronger than what it was when first there.
That is it for me, other than getting ready at work for that corporate visit next Thursday!!! :eek:
hugsss all, sarah
TwoKidsTwoCats 05-07-2009 02:11 PM
Holly :hug: my thoughts and prayers are with you.
The weather around me is much quieter today... may not last long though :rolleyes:. We had a F2 tornado close by yesterday. It toppled a few trees onto some really expensive homes and ripped portions of the roofs off a few more. A daycare center was hit, but thankfully just had some roof damage. Their cameras caught the winds whipping their playground equipment around!
I'm ready to dig up the back yard and put in a storm shelter! :eek:
tkrik 05-07-2009 02:31 PM
Yikes TKTC! I am glad you are OK as well as the kids in that day care center. :hug: I am so out of the tornado loop now that I can't remember what an F2 tornado is. :o It has been years since I lived in the midwest. I do remember the sudden changes in the clouds, the animals, etc. Everything was still and the clouds would have that funny look and you knew to get home right away.
Again, I am glad you are OK.:hug:
TwoKidsTwoCats 05-07-2009 03:29 PM
TKRIK, funny you mention animals. My cat was out sitting on the patio...when I remembered she was still out there, I found her on top of the propane tank under the grill cover!
The experts say yesterdays tornado had gusts up to 115 mph. Thankfully it didn't stay on the ground long. There would have been 2 schools in it's path if it had.
Kitty 05-07-2009 03:33 PM
TKTC, we usually get your weather about four hours after it hits you. We had thunderstorms last night (middle of the night) but nothing severe today. They're saying tomorrow and then again on Monday we'll have more storms. At least Mother's Day will be relatively quiet (we hope). Ya'll stay safe.
SandyC 05-07-2009 06:50 PM
I was in Walmart and a storm came through. We didn't hear a thing but when I got home by porch swing was flipped upside down. Weird.
barb02 05-07-2009 06:53 PM
Under a watch here right now. It is getting pretty dark here.
Finished my grading a few hours ago. Doing a mental happy dance.
NaeNae 05-08-2009 12:27 AM
Holly- sorry to hear about your grandma Big Hugs!
Sandy-we caught it pretty quick and my blood sugars aren't too high I do have frequent hypoglycemia though and my insulin levels were to the moon,so I am taking Metformin (glucophage) twice daily and on a very very strict diet...good news is there'll be less of me to love!
FinLady 05-08-2009 08:10 AM
Good morning all :) Wish the sun were shining, but that's ok. Figured out why I've been blah the past few days, and will be stocking up on some cranberry juice to see if it helps.
The warning signs are definitely not the same anymore, but think I did catch it early by the looks of stuff. I'll find out by the time the weekend's over. :)
Hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug::grouphug:
soxmom 05-08-2009 08:14 AM
Good morning.:)
fin...start that cranberry juice pronto!!! It usually works for me if I catch
it in time.
renee...glad they caught it in time.:)
barb...grading is done??? Congrats!!!!
everyone who is in the midst of storms ....stay safe:hug:
MY UPDATE: lots of shopping to do then a softball game of dd's tonight.
I want to wish all the mom's out there a very Happy Mothers Day and
I will "see" y'all on Monday!!!!!!:hug::hug::hug:
tkrik 05-08-2009 08:27 AM
Fin - Hopefully you caught it in time and will start feeling better soon.
Renee - My dad has latent diabetes and has been able to control it with diet. He is doing really well. I hope the same holds true for you. :hug:
Hi everyone else! Hope you are all having a great day!:hug:
Today is straighten up the house before the weekend day. It shouldn't take me too long as I did a good cleaning the other day. It's just a matter of putting things that are out of place back where they belong.;)
TwoKidsTwoCats 05-08-2009 10:05 AM
renee.... diabetes popping up is one of my big fears. All four of my grandparents developed diabetes after turning 60. :hug:
No sunshine here today. We may have storms later this afternoon. I need to return library books and get groceries this morning. Lawn needs mowing, but the ground is so saturated the mower will only sink into the red clay mud...not to mention how it will tear the grass up and leave ruts across the lawn. :rolleyes: SO long shaggy grass it will be until we dry out. The Homeowners association will just have to grumble!:p
:hug: to everyone!
SandyC 05-08-2009 10:20 AM
Morning all. It's cloudy here but nice and cool so that's good! I'll be planting my roses today if it doesn't rain. Maybe throw a load of laundry in. We're going to see our friend Jim tomorrow at his house.
Have a great weekend everyone. The boys will be home for Mother's Day Sunday and we're cooking steaks on the grill. I bought everything yesterday. Yumm!
barb02 05-08-2009 11:20 AM
TGIF
Another dreary day here in Central Illinois. It is such a relief to have all of my grading done.:D I just got caught up reading all of the posts that I missed yesterday.
I am sitting here waiting for the repair guy from Sears -- my washing machine is not working right, and it is less than two years old. It costs 69.00 just for a diagnostic appt.:eek: and of course, he is supposed to come sometime between 8:00 and 5:00.:rolleyes:
I am getting ready for my mom's visit. She arrives tomorrow. I have to drive to the airport in Indianapolis to pick her up. It is about a two hour drive each way. Unfortunately, it is the closest big airport. I was not able to find her a direct flight from Pittsburgh to Indie so she will be changing planes at Midway. So far, I have done some light cleaning, made brownies, and a pasta salad. I am taking her out to a brunch on Mother's Day with a friend and her mother.
Hope you are all having a decent day.
I need sunshine!!!
JustWeave 05-08-2009 12:02 PM
Afternoon all. Work went better today. I walked in and promptly gave myself permission to not even think about the two reports that are tripping me up unless the rest of my work was done first. :D It was a slow day so that helped greatly. :cool: I might have gotten to the easier of the two reports but someone came into the library with a need and a heavy heart. My co-worker and I helped her with her need (audio books for a child who just went blind) then listened to her heavy heart story. :hug: The reports will still be there on my next day of work. Letting E know people care and will do what we can to help was much more important.
Need to run a bunch of errands so I better get moving. Have a good rest of the day.
Kitty 05-08-2009 12:50 PM
Hello! I was up early....around 6:30 AM but went back to bed about 7:30 and slept until 11!! Got up, showered, swept and vacuumed the hardwoods, did two loads of laundry, made my grocery list and assembled my coupons, emptied all the trash cans in the bedrooms and bathrooms and ran the dishwasher. Whew! I feel like I accomplished quite a bit today. If I just do a little every day it's so much easier than trying to do it all at once. I miss the lady who cleaned house every other Friday! :(
We've got baby birds all over the place here. Cardinals, sparrows and some kind of black and brown bird. They're all bringing their babies to the "buffet" in my backyard. I've got to go fill up the one feeder that they tend to eat from more than the other one.
It looks like rain again here. We've got about a 50% chance of rain throughout the weekend. The boys are planning to take me to a Japanese Steak House for Mother's Day. I've been there before...it's really good.
Everyone have a good Friday. :) :grouphug:
barb02 05-08-2009 01:18 PM
Well, I am 125.00 poorer. It took the repair guy 10 minutes to clean my agitator -- major build up up thick, hard soap. He showed me how to take it apart and do it in the future. Sheesh! He did have to drive two hours to get here. Sears is just so efficient.
SandyC 05-08-2009 04:20 PM
Whew is right! I fertilized the front and back yard, pulled weeds, sprayed weed killer, sprayed bug defense around the house, planted two rose bushes, turned on all the water hoses, installed six solar lights in the front yard and replaced solar batteries in my backyard decor. :thud:
Debbie D 05-09-2009 07:56 AM
Morning, all...haven't been here in a few...
Holly :hug::hug: she is at rest...and she was so blessed to have you as her granddaughter.
Fin, hope the juice nips it in the bud quickly...
Sandy...you are amazing!
Monstrous fatigue hit this week...couldn't even work out, although I did get some flowers planted. I found a grass as decoration for one of my containers that's called Fiber Optic grass, and it looks just like it!! It's so cool...my DH laughed when he saw it...
My dog is doing really well...eating well, energetic. Only when we go on walks does he tire...actually almost stops. He gets going again when I talk about the treat waiting at home for him...
Got all of the wedding invitations out. Now waiting for a few "nos" so we can invite people on the waiting list. Eleven more weeks!!
Hope all in the south are safe as these storms move through...southern Ill. University got hit with a tornado in the area yesterday...
Have a great weekend, and Happy Mom's Day to all you mothers (okay, don't take that the way it sounds..:rolleyes:)
