rsd in Back??
How would u know if u had Rsd in your back or if it was just muscle spasm from another injury... I had broken my patella on my left knee in 2005 and had 1 surgery with a bolt and screw and wires and the next was a bone graft in my patella because it wasn't healing.. Any how, now I have rsd in my right foot from a fracture but ever since braking my kneecap, my back pain has gotten extremly worse like 3 x worse where I hurt so bad I could throw UP??Thanks Lisa:eek:

The sympathetic nerve blocks didn't help with the foot pain//

well your son is cute as a kid. i also work still a couple hours a day sometimes more. it depends. so i know how you feel its killer carrie |
Sunshine,
I'd wonder more what does the pain "feel like". Just pain doesn't make it RSD. Maybe you've gotten weaker back muscles from the bedrest? RSD pain present in certain ways, and I'd think you need the neurologist to determine if it has indeed spread. Pete asb |
ASB,
Yes I definitely need to go to a neuro doc to get help, I have so many other bills it's kinda hard to see everybody at once.. A symphathetic nerve block in the hospital here is 1800 for the room and I think 1000 for the shot?? Something like that ISn't that crazy for the price????? Yes I do have insurance but first of the year makes a big difference and if My insurance will keep paying for these?? I think they balked this last time before they paid it>.. what I think maybe it started in my left hip then with the knee injury to my left kneecap and then when I fractured my right foot it went there.. IDK Maybe I am just talking bs?? alll I know is I hurt.. My back pain is I cannot get comfortable ever even taking pain pills and cymbalta no matter what position I am in it's always there.and seems to run down my left leg>> My foot hurts but I do get relief from it when I get off of it> Thanks sunshine |
I hope u feel better soon:hug:

I also had back pain, and I just knew it was from the rsd. My pm dr, who is also a spine spec. insisted that it couldn't be rsd spreading, and ordered an MRI. It came back clean for lower back. So he said that he agreed, that it was the rsd. Now I'm on Opana ER, and my pain is almost totally gone, back, legs, feet, shoulder, Actually, I guess the pain is still there, I just don't feel it anymore. :D
I'm sure if I went off the meds that I would feel it. Hugs Mary :grouphug: |
Have you had an MRI? Maybe you've got disc issues - the leg pain could be from sciatica.

Hello,
When you have leg, knee or foot pain it will cause you to favor that area when you walk or stand. By doing that you mess up the alignment of you spine causing pain in the low back. I have full body RSD and like Carrie said you can tell when it's RSD pain. I also have a bad ankle that is not RSD related. I have a piece of chipped bone that has pulled the ligaments away from the ankle joint (confirmed by an MRI). I am having the ankle scoped June 1st. I say that to say it causes a great deal of pain and I walk differently to compensate for the pain. This throws my low back out which causes more pain. My Chiropractor helps keep my spine aligned thus reduceing the pain. So the back pain may or may not be RSD. It could be reacting to the way you walk or stand due to your RSD. I commend you for working with your pain. I would love to still work I miss the people and challenges that came with the job. Take care, Sherrie |
Sunshine,
You're getting good advice from everyone. I have full body RSD, and had that first in the spine. I know what that feels like. Then, another accident, and discs herniated in neck and low back. The low back discs cause the sciatica, down whichever leg it chooses that particular day, usually the left. The RSD is the deep burn, electrical nerve pain. The discs (which I suspect you'll need a scan for) is more of a deep ache. (If this makes any sense). For my low back and neck, the lidocaine patches are saviors! Since I don't drive right now (hafto pay wifey), I can't get to my chiropractor. Hope you get some relief! pete asb |
