I just this moment made my last mortgae payment on bill pay!
My house is mine. My husband and I are the only ones in our family to actually own our home.
|
CONGRATS!! That is something to celebrate:Dancing-Chilli:
I'll be so old by the time we pay ours off, I won't remember to enjoy it!:Head-Spin: |
http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/i...snanne/yay.gif What wonderful news! I'm sure there are a lot of members here who wish they were in the same position in right now. I'm so pleased for you Doydie. |
Back in the "old" days, I think they'd throw a party and burn the mortgage papers.
That's wonderful, doydie! :) Congratulations! |
Woo Hoo! Not many people do that anymore..My folks did, but when they bought the house it was 1966 and it cost $11,000..It was recently resold for $135,000..No wonder people don't pay 'em off very often..
Way to go! Have a bonfire with those mortgage papers... |
Yippee!!!

Fantastic, Doyd! Congratulations!
|
Congrats Doyd. :) It's a great feeling knowing that you don't have to make that payment every month. Now, go out and buy yourself something. OK, you can buy ME something if ya want. (grin)

I'm totally jealous!! :p
That's a great accomplishment nowadays. My parents did the same. Bought their house in 1961 for less than $10K and sold it in 1987 for nearly $300,000! The area it was in became one of the more "desired" areas to live. When they bought it the area was pretty much undeveloped. It changed!! All that $$ took care of my Dad the last several years of his life. Don't know what we'd have done had it not been for that house. Burn that mortgage!! Or better yet, frame it! :) |
Party Time..:icecream::yahoo::boy(music)::highfive::popc om::Trapeze 2::You-Rock::Tip-Hat::Excited::Head-Spin:

Fantastic! You must be so excited as well as relieved. I am so happy for you and DH.
|
Congratulations!!!!:highfive:
|
Huge congratulations! That's something to be very proud of.
I work for a bank and recently I've seen a lot of 40 year mortgages (terms). Crazy! If you took the mortgage at 25, you'd be 65 by the time it's paid. IF all went well. |
Congrats to you and your husband! :)
Have a party with what you would have spent on another payment. Invite all your family and friends and celebrate! |
Wahoo!!! Congratulations.
|
I'm going to make a copy of the mortgage and we will burn it when we all have a cookout on Mothers Day. I don't know if there have been many people that have burned their mortgage on the grill! But it will be just as good as the pork steak!

Congrats. We had paid ahead on our mortgage, and refinanced to a lower number of term years. We were due to be paid off in 2008.
However, many medical bills in 2002 and 2003 (related to MS and two unrelated surgeries) were not covered by insurance. We had to refinance our house. Now, we hope to be done paying by the time we reach retirement. Our current second mortage is higher than our original mortgage in 1989 was. Thankfully, housing prices rose enough that our home is still worth more than our mortgage. ~ Faith |
I am due in 25 months to have mine paid off. We too make extra payments, and took out a 15 year mortgage instead of a 30.
I cant wait, I cant wait, I cant wait. you have given me hope! |
I can't wait to pay mine off too! Congrats! I should have mine paid off in less than five years. We pay extra too.
