I love well and according to my family, make the best chicken and dumplings in the south  I enjoy reading when I can and writing about my experiences as a volunteer {which I have given up for the time being, but will return to it asap} my first book is in process of being published now :D

I am "jill of all trades" and a master of none...
DH says I am a pretty good cook, but then his mother does NOT cook! LOL Jenna |
I am an artist and gardener. I do both pretty well. They offer me escape from chronic pain and anxiety.
Right now I am doing trays of seedlings. They take alot of care when you don't have a greenhouse. Protection from severe rain, too much moisture, not enough, too much or not enough sun, etc. I am intending to put some of them around the rocks, left by the road crew last spring. Here is a picture of them I took the other day-- a before shot: This is a new fire hydrant and new rocks at the corner of my street. We live 2 houses down. I am planning on some nice flowers--daisies, black eyed susans and sedums to make this a bit nicer. I am also working on the area directly across from us, but I don't have a pic yet of that. Doing seed is inexpensive, but time consuming. I can't do seeds when I am working, for example. (I have some other photos in my album on my profile) |
Who Knew ! Amazing, lifestyles we all have, & talent !

I love gardening, and having moved into a unit with a tiny garden, was rather impressed that I was able to grow and supply my family with zuchinni's and paprikas this year, I also grew beetroot, salad greens. My herbs are slowing down as its autumn.
I also love to take photos, of the gorgeous wildflowers here in West Australia, and have just made a Mothers day card with one of them. I also love to cook and hav started to have my niece round to cook with her, its great fun. |
What a GREAT idea!
THanks Mary! Something positive to speak of - I love it!
I like to think I can decorate well..........I also cook fairly well and am sewing some pillows for the nuero ward @ the hospital. When I feel well, I can garden and organize my house pretty quickly - how I miss that! My neuro gets mad at me, cuz' I move sofas, but I hate being stuck on the sofa/bed all the time so when I have the energy I like to do it all! Big hugs Erin:D |
I puzzle doctors pretty well!;) LOL.
I know I'm really good at my job (office manager, accounting and HR). I'm not sure how well I do these, but I sure enjoy them - painting (watercolor), sewing, fishing and camping, baking and housekeeping. My kids say I'm a good mom, and my hubby says I'm the best wife (but he wears rose colored glasses!:D) Thanks Mary! :grouphug: |

I love anything crafty and am told I'm very creative. I especially love scrapbooking and party planning. I did a Dora Birthday for Emily's second birthday that was quite a party. I made purple felt backpacks like the one Dora carries for each one of the kids, I made a star catching game and pin the boots on Boots, and I made tacos for everyone, it was a big hit. I also love cooking, camping, swimming, and of course playing with my kids. I really love to sing, I'm told I'm good but I have horrible stage fright and can only sing in front of family and friends. I guess singing for my kids is all I'll ever do. Kristie |
Hey nemsmom!
You should post some pics for us! I for one would love to see them!
Big, big hugs! Erin:D Quote:

Kristie,
You know, you could make a business of your party planning and cake decorating skills! Oops, there goes the accountant in me again! I'm always jealous of crafty, creative people. My daughter is like that, but I guess I'm just a little to analytical! When we get up Oregon way, we'll have to go camping together! Becky |
Ooo that would be fun

I know some good areas that aren't state parks, just in the woods. I'm not too big on camping in camp grounds. I would love to make a business out of my party planning and cake decorating but it takes so much out of me I would have to hire a babysitter and housekeeper just to do the job. By the time you add up all of the expenses nobody would pay what it would cost for me to plan their party or make their cakes. If I do what my primary doctor wants me to I would go through all the schooling and become a doctor. I would love to do that, but unfortunately I can't afford it. Kristie |
I don't have any

Mary, This is a nice idea. You guys do lots of interesting things.
When I actually feel good and have more energy than just what's required for existing (like dishes and meals), I like to do just about anything. I have a Masters in design, so I love doing that but the arms don't work that well any more. I am a writer and that's about all I do lately. This is pretty mundane but I love just watching the birds in our backyard (and bunnies). We have feeders, hummingbird/oriole too. Did you know that orioles love grape jelly? Just put a tupperware cover out there with some in it and watch them come on over. I love to socialize but that just doesn't happen much anymore. I love road trips - nope, not happening. Most days I just hang out, write, snuggle my shih-tzu and try to get by. And I HATE that I can't contribute to anyone with time or money anymore. I used to volunteer but can't do that either. And, Becky, you like to puzzle doctors (which is really funny) but I guess these days I'm really good at nailing their hides to the wall since they keep screwing up my care! ;) Would any of you really run a pregnancy test on someone who didn't have a uterus?! Annie ps. No, I don't really "nail doctor's hides;" I've never even yelled at a doctor, slammed a door behind me or made a funny face at them. |
Annie, I didn't know they liked grape jelly ! I have learned something new from you today !
A Design Master, well, there's your creative side, color & placement, love it , & writing ! No ! They didn't run a preg. test on you ! What are we going to do with these doctors, can't live with them, can't live without them ! Mary |
I can scrapbook.....I love to cut and paste...and use buttons and fancy embellishments. I have a scrapbook for each child...and I have a "family scrapbook" for every year that details our fun times together throughout the year....I scrapbook everything! I love to take pictures and write stories about our outings. My three year old little girl just loves to look at them!
I hope I will be able to continue this...I have trouble at times with my hands getting tired...but I absolutely enjoy doing this! :icon_biggrin: Quote:

Annie,
OMG! Who did that to you (preg test)? I have actually yelled at a doctor. It's the first neuro I had that was so egotistic and blacklisted me. He said "well your depressed", and I yelled "Well, DUH!, One day I'm walking around and the next I'm unable to do anything and you are saying I can't have the one medication (Mestinon - he had taken away my prelim dx) that helps me at all!" It didn't help anything, but made me feel a little better. He'd already told me my problem wasn't neuro - he'd run all the tests (fibber - there were lots of tests left). Annie, I don't know if you're in a position to get a motor home (used, whatever), but it is wonderful! We can go, and I can go lay down whenever I need to, don't have to walk far at all for the bathroom, kitchen, anywhere so I have more energy for the "playing". And the escape and change in scenery always seems to rejuvinate my spirits. I love just sitting in my CO mountains and letting my brain go blank - one of my forms of meditation. Stephanie, kids do love looking and pictures and hearing stories that go with them. That's so neat that you have put all that together. Generations to come with no doubt love going through it all as well. My mom got a little family history book her uncle had put together about the family's origins in Colorado. It was so neat to read and see these old pioneer type pictures of school house and such! I'm sure you will be able to continue it. Maybe not all the time or for as long periods as you have been used to, but any will be fun! You all are very creative! I'm most impressed with our group here! Becky |
