Please can I ask for help on something else??????

I had never read anything on rest being healing, I don't think, till on the old BT Moose posted this really neat thing... I forget what it was exactly, but it was about rest and how this man had a theory that with a sufficient amount of rest, almost any health condition would improve.

Or maybe I don't remember it properly.

There was something about red balls in a river... maybe.

I am hereby hoping that some one can help me find that post or that theory.

I think about it a lot and I saved it to my computer, but my computer broke and I had to get a new one... and I couldn't get the stuff off my old one...

HELP, Please?

is that the same moose that is registered here? Like Moose53 or something?

change your title to mooses red balls. I like that one

ScratchW 09-15-2006 11:22 PM

Was this what you're looking for?

Did you ever hear about the red-ball exercise?

A big red beach ball floating down a river with white water rapids.

Now hold the big red beach ball under the water and try to prevent it from moving.

Picture yourself as that big red beach ball -- what do you feel like?

Now -- let the big red beach GO! Watch it dip under the water and pop back up. Watch it bump into the sides and float back out.

Do you see/feel the difference in what you feel like internally?

Here's a picture of a red ball -- imagine what happens to that ball with HERDS of dogs jumping on it :) -- it goes under and pops back up again

Playing Ball on Running Water:
by David Reynolds
(go to your local library and try to get any book written by David Reynolds)

Our minds are just like those pools full of dogs and red balls :D Words and thoughts are always running in and out and slamming the doors and bouncing off the walls. It's what you DO with those words and thoughts. If they just stay as words and thoughts, that's "normal" (my least-favorite adjective). If those thoughts and words become actions -- actions that cause no damage and no harm, that's still "normal"...

Just as the exercise says, once -- just once -- try letting yourself just *FLOAT* with the thoughts and the words -- don't try to hold them back -- and see where they take you.

Hope this helps.

Oh Scratch, I am so grateful to you. Very grateful.

I haven't finished reading your post yet because I have tears in my eyes -- I am so happy to see that.

I hope you also have the link to the material about resting...

fingers crossed.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe you remembered that old thing after all this time :p

The picture of the dogs and the red ball is still there -- photobucket changed their web address.

Here's the dogs:

Hugs right back at cha!!!!!

Remember it?

I think about it in my fragmented way all the time.

I am so sure that stress is at the bottom of so much of my continued lack of recovery...

I am going to do the exercise now, not right now, but tomorrow.

Aloha,

I'm glad I could help, but thanks go to Moose. I merely googled and then copy and pasted from a cached page. (I hope Moose doesn't mind).

a cached BT page?

I tried to get it. I guess I did it wrong.

Well, the beauty of having done it wrong then, is that it is so extra nice to get it now after wanting it all this time.

thank you again, Scratch. :)

ScratchW 09-16-2006 12:08 AM

:)

Your quite welcome. No problem at all. All I did was google "red balls in a river+braintalk" (without the quotes) and it was the first one listed.

Wishing you better days ahead,

SW

Okay, so it took me awhile to get the words entered right, but when I did, when I added the + braintalk... I got the listings, and the one you mentioned was first, but when I clicked on it I got a blank page.

So if you got the actual post and I didn't maybe it's because I was banned.

Probably... think?

ScratchW 09-16-2006 12:18 AM

You have to click on cached (I've bold and underlined)...

stop to think that i don't want [Archive] - BrainTalk CommunitiesBrainTalk Communities > General Subjects > General Neurology and Rare Disorders ... A big red beach ball floating down a river with white water rapids. ...
brain.hastypastry.net/forums/archive/index.php/t-73275.html - 14k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages

That will show the page.

Oh, wow, I see what you mean!

Thank you.

I think being banned affects me to make me think things won't work, so I don't try more things because I feel as if it won't work.

I'm fading here, sorry.

I also have never until now known how to do the + thing. that is really useful.

thank you for teaching that to me.

ScratchW 09-16-2006 12:26 AM

:)

You're welcome. I learned the "+" trick a little while back, it is mighty useful. Saves tons of time.

Yes, but not only the time, it gives SO much better results. I bet you anything that is what people use when they do searches and I do a search, like when someone asks for something on a forum, and they get dynamite results and I get wafty, piddling results that may be only useful in the most tangential way. Good grief!

Well, new day dawning here.

I actually remembered this when I woke up this morning. :)
