Feeling Better!
Hi everyone! Just wanted to share some positive news...
I am no longer using a cane, I'm walking around a lot more, (although still in some pain) I am doing better! I told you earlier that I was going to fight this and it wasn't going to win... well, it seems I'm gaining some ground! I've started lots of vitamins, B-12, B-2 (I can't drink milk or milk products) Vitamin C, Multi-Vitamins, and I'm drinking an 8 ounce glass of carrot/celery/beet/apple juice every day! Jack LaLane doesn't look that good at his age by accident! I've lost 12 pounds and I'm no longer eating fatty foods. (I do have a problem with my eyebrows getting out of control sometimes, but I'm sure it has to do with that juice machine thing :) ) I do feel it if I've pushed myself too far, and am careful not to do that but somedays I get a little too "bulletproof". ;) I don't like to give up without a fight, and :mf_swordfight: I'm not going down easy! I just came back from visiting my hometown and my mom's husband. (She passed away three years ago) and it gave me a real sense of who I am and how far I've come. When you look back at the road you've travelled, it reminds you of all the things you've overcome and all the battles you've won. When you are tired and feeling somewhat insecure, just look back at how far you have come and remind yourself what a strong and incredible person you are. You all have been very helpful and instrumental in my fight as well. Thank you for all your advice and I know you will be there for me in the future. I know this is just a temporary "high" and there will definitely be bad days in the future, but I'm going to wallow in the good days as well, so I have something to reflect on when the bad days are getting me down. (And so you all can have something to hold on to when you are having bad days and remember that we all have ups and downs). :Sigh: Terri |

So happy to hear you are doing better. :)

Hi Terri!!!1
How are you doing? Glad you're posting again!!!
Today, Alan and I went to a breakfast meeting so I could sign up with Empire BlueCross MediBlue Medicare Advantage Plan. On the bus home, an 18 year old Asian youth (who didn't know me at all), turns to me and says "Did you hear what Bush did?" I simply said "I beg your pardon!!" and he goes "He's sending a million more troops over to Iraq, and I'm probably next, he wants to kill us all" And all of the men on the bus starts to yell out loud about Bush. So naturally, me and my big mouth, I couldn't just sit there and say NOTHING!! so I stand up (thank god it was my stop anyway) and I said to the whole busload of people "the trouble with all of you is that you didn't vote for a woman president, you keep putting men in charge, if you voted for a woman, we'd probably have a tea party, have a decent discussion with the enemy and nobody would get hurt, but noooooo, all of you big bad boys have to go shoot em up and bang bang and play cops and robbers!!!. WE NEED A WOMAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE!!! And all the women on the bus started screaming "Right on Sister". Alan just skulked off the bus thinking he's married to a nut job and all the ladie were cheering me. I should do this more often. http://bestsmileys.com/music1/9.gif |
Do you mean someone like Margaret Thatcher?

I just think all the "Men" on capitol hill are afraid the "women" will expose them for what they really are! They are all driven by money, power, sex, and power. Unfortunately, so is the rest of the world. Except some add religion in as one of their drivers.
I don't think anyone has the "answers" to it all, and I don't believe the should, that's why God separated us all and gave us different languages and different lands to govern. Fortunately, those of us here on the Northern part of our continent have figured out how to get along pretty well. We just need to learn how to play well with others! You know, it's all a game of politics, some play well and others don't. Each religion and culture has it's own structure. If you stay within your own and "respect" the others rights to do the same, then things go along smoothly. It's when the "respect others rights to do the same" line gets crossed that the boat starts to tipping. Until the leaders of the nations learn to play nice, there will never be peace. When someone comes up with a plan to get them to "trust" each other, it won't happen! How do you learn to "trust" someone who shot your parents, or who raped your sisters? Someone who took your property and killed your brother? That is a very difficult bridge to cross. If any of you can figure it out you are truly a gifted person! I believe that Peace begins at home, teach your children to love their neighbors and they will hopefully do the same. Unfortunately, that is not the case in this world. (I know, silly bleeding hearts think they can heal the world!) Far from it, I'm scared to death of the silly bleeding hearts! I don't have the answers, I don't know who does, but I do know that what they are doing now isn't working! I don't know who's right or wrong, I've been too busy raising my kids and trying to make a living. I leave that up to the people who get paid to do that. It's just that I don't think they are doing their job the way it should be done! Their job is to run our country in the most efficient, safe manner, for the people of the country and to keep it safe from any enemies that may decide they don't like us. My job is to pay a reasonable amount of taxes, follow the laws, pay my bills, and raise my children to the best of my ability to be the best citizens they can be. O.k. soap box is complete. |
I still think we need a woman in the White House!!!
Not sure who would make a good candidate but at least there would be different perspectives on things.
And if I were in charge, you'd better believe I'd find out what really happened in 1947 in Roswell New Mexico and what the heck they are hiding in Area 51. http://bestsmileys.com/aliens/3.gif |
MELODY FOR PRESIDENT in '08
I hereby nominate our Melody for President. Party of her choice.
Shirley H. |
Hah!! I accept
Only if Mrs. D or Liza Jane don't want to run for President.
Wouldn't we make a nice cabinet? These two are so smart with their research and charts and I could give comic relief in the boardroom!!!! http://bestsmileys.com/usa1/16.gif |
Looks like your in Melody :D:D

I would be willing to take on an appropriate cabinet post--
--as I suspect this governing group would need to have a token male, to satisfy equal opportunity requirements; I'm sure the equal rights amendment would be immediately ratified in such an adminstration.
How about Secretary of Gluten-Free Labelling? :p |
L O L
I'd vote for you Melody too!
What I think is needed is COMMON SENSE... and you have plenty of that!;) |
Hey, I'd vote too
LOL, I'd have to vote you all in some way. I want to be Press Secretary. Can't keep my mouth shut, have to talk to everyone. LOL

A position for Rose!!!!
Secretary of Defense. I am sure, with Rose as the Secretary of Defense, there would be much needed guidance and advisement on how to run this country of ours.
And Glen. I have a nice position for you. We would create a new post. Official liason on Neuropathy. That means, whenever a new research is developed and we have to wait years and years for the FDA to approve it, we just all go to Glen and say "give us the pills". And Glen would say "no problem" So people with the pins and needles and pain would know that there is a neuropathy guy looking out for their best interest. Ah we can but dream that this might happen someday. But honesly, I do think there should be an appointee in the white house that would be a kind of liason for people with special needs. That need to be listened to. I seem to remember that Dolores Hart (the actress who became a nun) some time ago went before Congress or the Senate (or something) and gave a plea on Peripheral Neuropathy. Now if a nun can't get the job done, who on earth can???? OH, and here's something funny. Alan comes home from the gym carrying a package and says "do you want your Christmas Present now?" I said amazingly "you got me a christmas present"??? (He doesn't believe in giving presents by the way). So he says "sure" and I said No, give it to me on Christmas. So naturally, while we were laying down taking a nap before dinner (being a curious woman, I'm trying to guess what he bought me". I'm going. Do I wear it? he goes "yes". I go, Can you smell it?" he goes "i have no idea". I said what color, he goes "i don't know". So I go, "you bought me a present, you don't know what color, but I can wear it and you don't know if it smells?" He goes "All I can tell you is that it's a brand name". I said "what the heck does that mean?" and he goes ........ Well, it was a choice between this and a clock radio with little animals on it that wakes you up with animal sounds" I looked at him and said "do I look like a woman who wants to wake up to animal sounds?" And he goes "that's why I didn't get it, I got the brand name." Then he goes "it's a set, there's more than one, and that's all I'm going to tell you." Then he says "Oh, and I didn't do the strawberry thing either?" Now here's the funny thing about the strawberries. Years and years ago, he finally bought me something for my birthday. I open it up and it was some gift set from "The Healing Garden". it was strawberry shower gelee, strawberry body lotion, strawberry foot creme, etc. etc. So I take my shower, use all the products, get into bed and all of a sudden, Alan starts saying "why am I hungry, I'm dying for a bowl of fruit, what the heck is wrong with me". I never laughed so hard in all my life. So now we get back to my upcoming present that is now hidden in the living room. He keeps saying "Remember, it's a brand name". I said "what does that mean"? and he goes "when you look at it you'll go, Oh, I know that name" then he hits me with the big clue (and if anybody has an idea what he gave me, feel free to tell me. He says "when you go to the gym, you'll be glad you have this". I said "I need this at the gym?" and he goes, "remember it's a brand name". (So there we go again with the brand name". I asked him if it was body lotion, foot creme, soap, etc. he kept saying, nope nope. All he would say is "when you go to the gym, you'll be glad you have this". I ruled out a bathrobe, slippers, etc. So if you have a clue and remember IT'S A BRAND NAME!!!! try guessing. Giving you all a big hug for Christmas. http://bestsmileys.com/hugging/4.gif |
Oh my!
When I am appointed and confirmed I will do my best!:icon_wink:
|
That's great stitches!!
I am very happy to hear you are feeling better! I'm sure you will continue to improve.:)
|
I'll accept whatever position you are offering!
|
I definitely want in . . .
I can't let Glenn be the token male in the cabinet. I can make a really good cup of coffee (and bake a thing or two for those not on gluten-free). And I agree with MrsD - we could use some common sense in our government and our governing figures . . and Melody has gobs of that . . to go with her abundant humor, which is surely sorely needed (not sure if that's a pun or just badly worded, hmm, sounds like both, i'm fraid).

Guess what!!!
Alan and I just came home from visiting my friend in the hospital. She was so happy to see us. Alan wore this silly Santa hat. We stayed from 1:30 p.m. till 5 p.m. It was a wonderful visit and we are so glad we did it. So Merry Merry to all and hope you all had a nice Christmas day. And Mr. Rfinney. You can make me a good cup of coffee any day. I love Dunkin Donuts Coffee. take care, Melody |
Mel...you are so generous...
Your friend is lucky to have you!
We just got home, and had a minor emergency. I had bought my son the requested food processor, so he was trying it out, slicing the potatoes, for mashies, and sliced the tip off his finger! About a 1/2 inch a moon slice, replete with blood everywhere! I still don't know how he managed to do it, really. So I had to do the meal... and do first aid on him. My hubby went to a 24hr Walgreen's and we could find the right bandages, but when I left, it was still bleeding. So tomorrow he will have to probably go to an urgent care. There is nothing to "stitch"...but maybe a finger guard will help it some. It will throb tonight I expect. He poo poohed it..saying he has had worse, but you know how Mom's are.:p It has been a while since I have had to deal with "blood"... so I was a bit out of practice. We couldn't find the bit to stick back on (it will grow back you know), and we don't know where it ended up...cough cough. |
Oh my, you poor thing and your poor son. Thank God, he has a mom who knows how to bandage things.
I've just bought a V-Slicer and I always use the safety holder. It would be soooo easy to slice off a tip of a finger with one of those things. Hope his piece of finger grows back!!!! Take care, Melody |
Ouch!
Give him a hug for me.
rose |
Thank you...
His finger stopped bleeding finally on Thursday.
I wonder now what was worse? Losing our Xmas gift, which was to be a meal prepared and served by him...on his doting parents? Or worrying that he would get blood poisoning from this dreadful injury? I really worried about the injury for days...! A real mom moment! He cannot still use the guitar, but he can type (at work). I am planning on a raincheck for the meal, only he does not know this yet:icon_wink: LOLOLOL Thanks for the positive thoughts! |
hello to old post
As jody foster once said, it would be an awful waste of space if there were not others. I feel they are there. Our universise is expanding, each planet and star moving more away from each other and faster too, not slower. It would be hard to space travel, but I do believe there are others who can. The universe is very old and had time to develope civilizations. So much we don't know. If our planet could stop warring with each other, gosh what we could learn. All countries have their war memorials, don't we get it yet? I live on the fla. coast. I am worried about our gulf. We would also solve so many of our medical conditons if our strengths could be put into medicine. just a thought or two. ginnie
