Introducing...
...my very first internet forum avatar!! I think. I've never done one before, so I may need help.
This is the culinary creation I came up with for my family's Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's house about a year after my MS dx. :D It was delicious. |
I'd like to show it to you full size for more disgusting effect, but can't figure that out yet.
|
errrr, what is it, turkey tofu?

I figured out how to attach it as a full sized picture! Wonder if it will work.
|
Cool!
I made one for Halloween one year. Put it in a bucket that looked like a skull, topped with gummy spiders and worms. It was not as cool looking as yours, but it was tasty. It was all gone before we even went trick-or-treating. Thanksgiving you say? Hmmm.... you seem a bit twisted. I like you already! :D |
Ha ha, I was afraid to say it looked like a brain more than food, lol. I didn't want to hurt your feelings in case it was supposed to look like duck ala orange or something. :D
|
UGH!! Who took the first taste?
|
Ick, the full-sized pic looks like a real brain, right down to the shiny stuff on top. You did a great job. No one ate any of it, did they?
|
ewwww! well, you pass muster. welcome to NT.
hope to hear more about you. |
Brain mould
What a classic! That's sooo funny!
How did your family react when you said this is a replica of your brain - complete with lesions? lol I love your sense of humour.:D My sister will love this. :-) Great to be able to laugh about such things. You just have to. (and where did you get the brain mould from????) |
You need to send that to your neuro for a gift! Maybe he will give you a discount on your next MRI
|
Susan, that is disgusting looking. You did a great job.:D People eat cakes shaped in all parts of the anatomy. Think bachelor and bachelortte parties.
|
Positively genius! I love it that you linked it directly to your MRI. If your family was having a problem “getting it” about MS, this is the perfect way to get right down to it!
|
Oh thank you, thank you!! (euphonia replies with a modest blush, as she bows graciously to her gathered admirers, loses her balance, and falls flat on her *****) :)
I've been trying to come up with an avatar for years, mainly hoping I could figure out how to post one of my MRIs. And finally...a little light came on (possibly brought on by the recent migraine) and I remembered the brain pic. Let's see if I can answer some of your questions... Marion...I actually brought the MRIs with me. It was sick, I know, but sick I am. :) Sally & azoyizes, I even got my dad to eat some...he's a good sport. And he feels real guilty that so many of my medical conditions came from his side of the family (MS & HNPP among them). The final, glistening touch was pouring a little blueberry juice over the top. Freesia, the mold came from an Archie McPhee catalog (I think). I totally misread the enclosed recipe of course, improvised, and still amazed myself with the result. The initial gasps of horror changed quickly to laughter, and yes, you've just got to keep your sense of humor with MS - and hope to spread it around. doydie, I got such a giggle out of it that I printed up a pic and took it to my next neuro appointment. She insisted that I e-mail it to her so she could use it in the neurology classes she teaches. I thought I deserved a free MRI for it too, but no luck. 2K2C, Wiz, Sally, if you didn't recognize what it was at all, maybe you're as bad a cook as I am...I like that. Braingonebad, NurseNancy, Lady, thank you for your words of appreciation for my aesthetic accomplishment - bad taste that tastes good. And another gracious thank you for all of your friendly posts, welcomes, and smiles. No matter how short life is, it's too long to spend it pi**ed off all the time, and laughing feels SO much better. :) |

:vomit::ROTFLMAO: Very creative, euphonia :D |
This is great!!!
Then again, I have a hard time judging what's appropriate after working in health care for so long... I think that your jello mold is genius (and probably delicious) and I have to give mad props to your family for taking it all in stride. It seems like you have some very understanding people with a sense of humor around you. Half of my family wouldn't get it (husband's side) and the other half would be appalled (my side). It's great when people can laugh WITH you. |
Love it! You know they say..."There is always room for Jell-o!"
Totally awesome! |
Ewwwwww!!!!! Yucky -- but what a hoot!!!!! :)
|
I thought it was a naked turkey, not cooked or browned and was glad Sally asked. As brain Jello it makes sense, Uh, you know some "Mad Scientist" (doctor) in Brazil is trying to link MS with Brain eating. Not Jello brains, but real ones. Turned out some of our members have eaten them! Most not, I think.
|
Brilliant! I wanna make one & bring the whole thing to my next appointment..The MS nurse has the same twisted sense of humor I do, so it should be a hit!
Welcome to NT, by the way.. And Kicker, like I said before..If it's true "you are what you eat", it should be obvious I've never tried brains..:D |
Well, good morning my ghoulish forum fiends...er...I mean FRIENDS! Hello Snoopy, OhKay, Taffy, Judy, kicker, PolarExpress and all who have stopped by to gawk.
Welcome to my nightmare! And thank you for welcoming me to yours. :) |
