Moi is out of surgery

Moss called to say that Moi is out of surgery and terribly uncomfortable, but the drs say that the surgery went well. He was in surgery for about six hours and recovery for about three. He is doing well and she sounds very tired, but lovely as always.

She wanted me to thank everyone for their prayers and said that she wished that there were some way that she could thank every single person who is praying for and thinking of them , but there are so many and no way to do it all. She will let us know when and what she can and I am sure someone will be here to report.
As for me, I am just grateful and thank God that he's through this part. I'll keep praying.

Thank you Ducky for letting us know!!

Still on my knees sending prayers and asking the Lord to please hold Moi and Moss in HIS gentle healing hands.

I pray He comforts, calms, and heals Moi... while He brings strength, peace, and serenity to Moss.

I pray they both are comforted with rest and healing.

Thank you Ducky for passing on the good news. It was good of you to let us know. I'm another one who was very grateful to hear that the operation is over, and that Moi is doing OK. I do hope that he's getting the best of care and that his pain will ease soon.

When you next speak to Moss or Moi, please tell them that they're both on my mind and in my prayers, and will stay that way until he's well on the road to recovery.

Once again I thank you for taking the time to update us on his progress.

soxmom 07-31-2009 06:47 AM

Thanks for the update........praying for a calm, speedy recovery.

Alffe 07-31-2009 02:36 PM

Just got off the phone with Nan and she sends her love and appreciation for all for the calls, cards and prayers. After a very uncomfortable night..painwise..he is better today with the new meds and while we were talking the physical therapist came and insisted he walk down the hall with him on a walker. He is already regaining sensation in his hands...so happy with his news. She hopes maybe tomorrow to get on the hospital computer with news. Hugs for the room. :grouphug: And prayers of thanksgiving.

Doody 07-31-2009 03:18 PM

He's regaining the feeling in his hands!!??!! Oh this makes me very happy! Thanks ((Ms. Alffe)).

Love and prayers being sent to the Mois :grouphug:

da duck 07-31-2009 04:20 PM

Thanks, Alffe. I was hoping that you had talked Nan. I thought about calling but was afraid I would catch them at some vital "oooh, if only the phone hadn't rung" moment. ( Plus I took a nap)
So good to hear that he is regaining feeling in his hands, and that he is walking a little. If you talk to her again, pass on my love and prayers?

Happy to read more good news from your update, Alffe.

I received a postcard today from Moi, written while he was waiting for the pre-op appointment last week. It has pictures of colourful butterflies on it and just this week I was taking photos of butterflies at our Gardens and loving my new digital camera.

Here are a few for Moi and Moss ...

Thanks for the butterflies, Scrabble - Moi and I are huge butterfly fans ...we planted a whole section of our yard with plants that are supposed to attract butterflies last fall. We haven't seen too many yet...but still watching...
Your photo's are just beautiful!

Spanish Moss 08-01-2009 08:48 AM

To one and all...
Thank you all so much for the concern and love so beautifully expressed through emails, voicemails, posts, calls and prayers. We treasure each and every one of you.

My Moi is doing a little better each day. His surgery successfully eliminated the pain, numbness and weakness in his arms and legs. The surgical pain is intense but we know is temporary. The pain pump they put him on yesterday (after a harrowing first night) is letting him be in control and works great. He is sleeping alot (making up for a long time) and isn't yet up to reading or talking, but I have relayed all the messages to him and he smiles that adorable dimpled smile of his.
He has alot of swelling inside his neck and this is probably the most irritating thing since his pain is better, since it interferes with swallowing and breathing, but this is normal and not so bad as to be a major problem - just something to watch and deal with. He accidently pulled out the drain from the front incision (ouch!) because he is a wiggle worm, but the one in the back incision will remain until Sunday or Monday. The doc thinks Moday is the earliest he will go home.
I am taking extra good care of my honey and keeping a close eye on things. I am staying in his room on a recliner (ugh) but feel better doing so than wondering how he is from a distant bed somewhere else. Since I am terribly directionally challenged, I have taken to drawing maps on scrap paper since this hospital is so huge and unfamiliar. I have yet to smoothly find my way to and from my car or the dining area. Thank God for nice strangers, or I would still be wandering about.
I will try to keep you updated in the days to come and one of these days you will likely get a message from my Moi.

Taffy 08-01-2009 10:21 AM

Great news on the surgery! Now we all will be praying for that speedy recovery!
Just remember Moi to do everything the wife says....yup....that's what I said!

And Moss...don't forget to take care of yourself also. We don't need you getting sick now.

 to you both!

da duck 08-01-2009 01:00 PM

Good to hear from you, Moss!!!! The news seems to be pretty good and I am grateful for that. Are you getting any rest? I know..it's hard.

Moi, I am hoping you feel better soon and get home to your kidses. And your home. Please call if there is anything I can do.

You all are always in my thoughts and prayers. You know that I love you all!!! The Kid is still praying every moment for the bunch of you. :D And so am I.

Nik-key 08-01-2009 02:02 PM

((Moss)) So good to hear from you! Thank you so much for giving us an update

Such a relief to know the surgery was successful :yahoo: Praying hard for a speedy and full recovery. Keeping you both close in my heart.

(((((((MOI)))))))

Kitty 08-01-2009 02:44 PM

Keeping you both in my prayers. I'm so happy to hear the surgery was successful and Moi is on the road to recovery. You've both got lots of prayers and positive thoughts behind you. Just take it one day at a time and enjoy the small miracles. :)

Spanish Moss 08-03-2009 11:06 AM

Update on my Moi....

He will be staying in the hospital a few more days since the swelling in his neck has gotten worse, making it very difficult to swallow. It is a pretty panicky feeling when even the saliva won't go down. The doc said this is not unexpected considering the extent of the surgery and will start him on some meds to help reduce the swelling.

He is otherwise progressing...walking on his own, and humoring me and the staff. We even had a movie date last night - watching "Next" (Nicholas Cage) on the computer.

Moi sends his love and gratitude to our forum family, as do I.:grouphug: Hugs and butt squeezes for the broom.

SandyC 08-03-2009 11:20 AM

So glad to hear he's doing better, minus the swelling. Don't forget to take care of you too. Thanks for the beautiful postcard! Let Moi know mom is doing better each day.

soxmom 08-03-2009 11:33 AM

I continue to pray for Moi and Moss. I hope they can get the swelling
under control and he can be home soon. :hug:s for the family!

Doody 08-03-2009 11:56 AM

((Moss)) Thanks so much for the update. Truth be known...I'm glad he's staying in just a bit longer! I hope the feeling is still coming back in his hands.

Always in my heart. My love to you both.

GmaSue 08-03-2009 01:05 PM
