Dr Grohol, you certainly try to please. that is nice, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that things can go south when too many spoons get in the pot.;)

I'm not sure what you are asking, it could be taken several ways, but I would like to have OUR CHATS, not a carbon copy of other chats??

I would like to have something for Alzheimers Disease/cargivers. I'm not sure there are enough people interested. As large as some forums are, Alzheimers forum was very slow. I never could figure out why.

Is it that people just don't want to talk about it? Like I said, I never did understand why no more people were Interested in this disease and the cargivers that about killed themselves before they realized they had given all they had to give caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's D.

When it was clear my mother-in-law could no longer live alone, we brought her here. Little to no help from siblings. Anyway, long story.

Notice I said CHATS. Thats what my search rendered. I went into the MGH Classic Chat. About 12 people were in there. I was scared, many things were new to me, being a caregiver was on top. This group of members, ((not all were female either)), had a very active Chat room. The things I learned I still draw on today and that has been 7 or 8 yrs.

All of us were new to this, we had at least 1 nurse, but they were as ignorant as the rest of us. Over the yrs, the loved one's have passed on. there are 2 left. A dear lady from Canada and my MIL. When the Classic Chats went down, we got scattered all over and some didn't come back, the Alzheimer's D forum at BT was not active. about 6 of us, but for one reason or another it just wasn't working.

I have requested a Alzheimer's Chat for several years, I was ignored. After the forums went down at BT I finally asked for a chat 1 more time. When it was clear the forums may or may not be fixed, even getting the forums back up. After watching DH add rooms right and left one night I added Alzheimer's to the list. Next day every wish had been granted except the Alzheimer's Chat. One of the Mods responded to me and said she would "remind" DH. Well, its name was up there but I never could get into the room. . I gave it up for DOA and had been looking for a Chat room or a group that were interested in helping their LO, taking care of them, the Nursing Home option etc.

This is long and I don't blame you if you remove it. All I ask is if you have time, please take a read and see if there is help within your system.

I have a vested interest in this disease and would like to learn more, have others to talk things out with etc. I would be forever grateful if you at least look at this long post. thank you , Julia

http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/6932/chatnz7.jpg

might be helpful for ppl that don't like flash loading unnecessarily.

thanks TC I didn't know that about having to be logged in either!

Jomar 09-20-2006 11:07 AM

Ellie 09-21-2006 01:45 PM

I'll try to hang around in there today, so if anyone needs help getting their chat set up (you can change colors, etc.) pop in and let me know. I go away from my desk from time to time but normally no longer than 10-15 minutes.

JoJo6 09-23-2006 02:22 PM

Hi Ellie

I go into the Chats everyday. End up talking to myself. Well now, did meet up with Curious and maybe .........Artist? no sure See y'all in Chats

Ellie 09-27-2006 07:55 PM

We had 8 last night! Need to start getting these going, I see this as a great chance to chat freely and build friendships. Last night, I got to learn about new conditions which was exciting (I'm always curious, it's my nature).

Someone come visit me :(

ncdude 09-27-2006 08:33 PM

OK guys, how about we all meet in chat tomorrow (Thursday) at 7 PM EST. Just picking a time so we have a starting point. If it's bad, suggest another time.

joe

Ellie 10-03-2006 12:41 PM

Will be trying to hang in chat today if anyone wants to talk!

snidermame 10-04-2006 04:24 PM

Kimmydawn, did you get into the chat area? I clicked it on but nothing came up. Would you know how to get in?

Thanks, Cindy

snidermame 10-04-2006 04:27 PM

Ellie, how do you get Chats to work?

Cindy

Ellie 10-04-2006 04:36 PM

Cindy,

To join a particular chatroom:

At the top of the page you will see it says "Room" and next to it is a drop-down menu. From there, you can select which room you'd like to join.

When you look at the room listings to the right side, it will show you how many members are in each room, and by clicking the room name - it will show who is in the chatroom as well.

Hopefully that was what you meant. To join the chatroom, you can use this link:

http://forums.braintalk2.org/chat/flashchat.php

Or using the menu above on the forums here, click "Chat Rooms".

snidermame 10-04-2006 04:37 PM

Ellie it comes up blank?

Ellie 10-04-2006 04:39 PM

Hrm, that may be more of an issue for more computer savvy people. Let me ask around and see if anyone knows! :)

pam* 10-04-2006 04:51 PM

Cindy do you have flash enabled ?
If not you can download it here http://www.soft32.com/download_500.html

Are you using a Mac or PC..
what browser ? ex.. Internet explorer.. firefox.. AOL ?

any pop up blocking stuff that could be stopping the page from opening ?

just taking some guesses at this point.
It would be nice to see a few people in the chats :)
Pam

snidermame 10-05-2006 01:09 PM

Thanks to all of you for you help regarding Chat. I will have to look into it further. (I tried posting and it didn't seem to go so trying again. If there are 2 thank you, sorry:))

snidermame 10-07-2006 06:02 PM

Thank you Pam. It worked.

snidermame 10-07-2006 06:03 PM

Ellie, I can now chat. Thanks.

pam* 10-07-2006 11:02 PM

cool !!!
now all we need are some people :D
I went to the OBT chat a couple of times, just because I enjoy the chat and there are usually a few people in there, but the other nite someone really got chewed out for a question that I asked. I dont know if the chat mod got us mixed up or what happened, but it made me pretty uncomfortable. I tried to confess, lol... didnt help.

hope to see some of you soon !
