Hi everyone. Looking for some help and little support for my back problems. I was injured at work and have under gone 4 epidurals, joint block and discogram. Final decison by my surgeon... 2 level fusion from l4-s1. Let me tell ya just typing that has made me cry, every time I talk about it, think about it i cry. Very scared and worried. In alot of pain everyday, taking lots of narcotics, antinflammatory, and muscle relaxors(horrible leg cramps). I am waiting for work comp to agree to surgery, been a long 6 months of physical therapy, drugs, as well as procedures. I guess hope surgery will help. I'm worried about what it will be like after surgery. I'm seeing my surgeons associate in week, both of them will be in the surgery, I believe this is because of my disc are herniated as well and both herniations going different ways and in my nerve canal as well as on my nerves, just seems like a big surgery. Any advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated. I have lots of questions, thanks

Dear Breadgirl,

I am happy you have found NT. There are a lot of very caring supportive folks here.

I can say that I know the pain you are in. Before I had my first back surgery due to a ruptured disc, I was in so much pain I had to lie on the floor in the doctor's waiting room.....long story short....after the surgery, I got up and walked to the bathroom PAIN FREE!!!

I was nervous before the surgery, but nothing but thankful afterward!

Good luck...let us know how you are doing and if you have any questions.

welcome to NT,

you will find lots if info and supportive people here.

i just had c-spine surgery to take out 2 herniated discs pressing on my spinal cord. the surgery was well done and successful. the 1st wk was the hardest to cope with. i was dealing with post op pain and it was harder to move about.

the drs gave me adequate pain medication. it was very helpful to have friends around who could take me to appts. i don't think i even attempted to drive for 2 wks.

think about stocking your refrigerator so you have everything you need post op and don't have to go to the store. you can always freeze a roasted chicken made in the store.

i hope your surgery goes well and you recover quickly. just trust your body and do what it says. please keep us posted.
