waiting for a letter

Hi, I'm Jessica im from ny and I have bipolar and BPD I applied for social security disability back in October and I got denied. On august 13th I had my alj hearing and I still have yet to get a letter back. I'm really nervous and don't know really what to expect I did have a disability lawyer but I felt like she didn't really do much. I met with her once A few weeks before my hearing and that was really it.

Hi, Jessica. I have epilepsy with weekly grand mal seizures and daily staring seizures, OCD, bipolar, personality disorder, knee problems, plantars faciatis and a few more problems....I had my hearing August 8 th and have heard nothing yet either. The wait is long and tiring, I do know...I do wish you the best.. i know how it is to have an incompetent atty. I had one with my first case which went all the way to the federal level then was eventually denied. I switched attys and filed a new claim and feel so much better with this representation. I met with him several times from start to hearing. He is not one of those 'as seen on tv' attys. If you have to (and i hope you get an approval so you do not have to) but if you have to file a new claim, I do suggest finding a private attorney, one that does not advertise on tv. Ask friends who may be on disability already who they ussed as rep. That is how I found mine. :)

Yeah, I found mine threw a living place actually.. But it really seemed like she just didn't care when I arrived at my hearing she didn't say anything just called me and we awkwardly waited for the room to open.. But the judge was really nice she was on the TV thing and she smiled at me at the end? Idk its soooo nerve racking

It sounded to me like Jessica originally applied in October of 2012, was denied, appealed and had her ALJ hearing in August of 2013 and is still waiting the decision as of October 1st, 2013.

Makes sense to me. I applied in Nov 2012, was denied in March 2013, appealed and awaiting my ALJ hearing. Appears her area works a little faster than my area. We originally applied one month apart from each other and she already had her hearing and is awaiting a response. I am awaiting my hearing.

It is nerve wracking to wait.....and feel like your fate is in a stranger's hands.

I don't mean to alarm you, Jessica, but it can be a looonnnggg wait for many of us. It was 3 years for me.....meaning until I got my ALJ hearing. Now that you've had your ALJ hearing, it shouldn't be much longer until you hear the decision.

I hope that it works out for you this time around.

Try not to be too discouraged if it doesn't go your way. There are further avenues to pursue. If you know that you are disabled, never give up the fight for the benefits that you have earned.
