I'm new here

Hello everyone, I joined this site yesterday. I've got all my conditions and meds listed in my signature, so I won't put them in again. I'm going through my reconsideration of SSDI appeal. Had the appt on tuesday and my attorney thinks it went well since the judge ended the meeting early and didn't ask the vocational expert anything. I didn't get a chance to read the 4 pages of stuff I had prepared, or go over my meds because the judge said he had enough evidence to make his decision. So now I'm waiting and hoping for the best. I've been retired since 2007 on disability pension, but I really need the medicare and SSD as well. I'm 43, and I was hurt in a body surfing accident at 38. Worked 2 years with the back and neck pain until I started getting migraines and just couldn't do it with the migraines on top of everything else. I only wish I had found this site earlier when I was preparing for my reconsideration hearing. Anyway, from the day I spent surfing the site you all seem like nice, decent people.

Thank you for your kind welcome! I think that having a site like this is a great idea, and I'm glad I found it. I'm a bit stressed and will be until a (hopefully) fully favorable SSDI ruling comes my way, but I really like that this is a place where people with similar conditions can get together and talk about things.

Thank you! I appreciate your support. I may have periods that last 4-5 days where I can't respond to messages or pop in to the site. It just means my migraines are acting up or my fingers aren't working well so I'm off the computer. It happens, so the best way to deal with it is to just deal with it. I try to be active to some degree and I like to help people, but I also know my limitations and bad migraine days or days when my fingers don't want to work I just have to rest and relax.
I also bring some helpful insight with me, as a former employee of a major nyc health plan on the administrative side. my boss wrote risk contracts for docs and hospital groups, and I have been ill for a very long time and have figured out a lot of the ins and outs of the health care system. So anywhere that I may be able to use what knowledge I possess, I'll be happy to share with anyone who needs the assistance. I also used to write for Body Positive Magazine until it went under, and one of my articles was even reprinted by the International Labor Organization in Geneva. Of course, nothing prepared me for my fight with SSA, which is now in the reconsideration of appeal stage. I'm awaiting the judges ruling, and pray that it's fully favorable.
Anyway, sorry for the long note, and thanks for the kind welcome!

Hey, I got my fully favorable ruling today! Nothing in my account yet, but I'm stoked because I really needed this after almost 4 years of fighting for it.
