Missing Pieces
 

A few missing pieces,

Can't make out the face.

This puzzle of mine,

This incredible waste.


I search high and low

to quench my desire.

Under the pillow,

next to the fire.


What will I do if I fail to complete-

this puzzle of love,

this puzzle of deceit?


A few pieces missing,

What will they say?

She must be a failure,

Been lead far astray.


How can I ever tell them I tried-

to keep all my pieces,

to own all my pride.


My missing pieces,

I wear on my sleeve.

Why, you ask?

Just take me, or leave.

At my own expense, I'm honest with this.

And in return, I gain true friendships.


For those who focus on pieces not there

can be filtered out for all I care.


A few missing pieces,

I can't be ashamed.

I'll take your rejection,

I'll hear your harsh claims


These missing pieces don't change what's there now

in my puzzle of life, I've come to find out.

Coming to terms with the loss of myself,

my missing pieces,

my internal wealth-

is hard I find, but truly best

when you take a step back

and take a deep breath-


Now think of all the pieces you hold

of love, knowledge, friends new and old.


Owning each sacred piece that you have

will leave you fulfilled when you take a step back.

Now I can dry my face from the tears.
