Yep, Frank, I have food triggers for migraines. I went through the whole gambit on food triggers. I saw a very good doc in Boston when we were stationed there who gave me a list of food triggers. I spent a year testing these foods.

The process entailed eliminating all those foods from my diet for 6 months. Then adding them back one at a time to see what triggered a migraine.

Here's what I learned: MSG, red wine, cream cheese, sour cream, rye, caraway seeds, sharp cheddar cheese, ricotta cheese.

Those are my trigger foods.

Some of the other foods on the list (and this is by no means all of them): sardines, vinegar, yogurt, aged cheeses, chocolate, caffeine, beer, anything fermented or aged (aged cheeses, for instance), cultured yogurts, nitrates.

I found that some things on the list triggered mine and some didn't. In the beginning I found that if I ate too much yogurt, I would get a headache, but if I only ate it occasionally, I am ok.

But these days, the list that I have is an immediate trigger, even on the medication that I take. I will get a break through migraine, so I stay away from those foods. I can eat most any cheese except sharp cheddar cheese...not sure why that one, but bam! Headache. Same with cream cheese and ricotta cheese. So when I make lasagna, I have to use cottage cheese in it! And no cheesecake for me! Nope...not worth it!!

And I have become quite the label reader. You would be surprised what these manufacturer's put MSG into....amazing. That stuff just kills me...not only do I get a migraine, but it wreaks havoc on my digestive system as well! I cannot use soy sauce either...MSG....

Anyway, I hope my longwinded reply has helped you! Or someone!!
