It's official. I really do live in a noisy complex.

hi, All,
It's official. I really do live in a noisy complex.

And I'm not just talking about firecrakers in the stair well on NY's Eve or trucks at the gas station, ....

:icon_arrow: When hubby went to the rental office today, a woman came in throwing a fit announcing she was moving out because of the NOISE.

No planes here. No boats. And no trains. Somethings to be thankful for.

But yes: Dogs, kids, music, drunks next door who leave the door open when watching football with friends so as to spread the experience to the whole buiilding (did I tell you I don't watch ft ball), sports cars on the nearby highway, lawn mowers in the early am.....what were we thinking....??

I still want to move to Kansas where a person can still be far away from another person. But then I would have to take a flight to get to a 24 hour drug store.....And we'd have a 1.5 hour drive to the airport.
Can't see any downside to Kanas.

????Do you know that people in the apt below AND the people in the apt above ARE STILL AWAKE AND MAKING NOISE????? It's 3:30 am.
I Hearby Give Everyone Permission to go to bed now and sleep.

I'm quiet. Trust me.
Hubby even listens to the tv/music with headphones so as not to disturb the neighbors or me.

help. is your place quiet?

Hello,
If you live in a quiet place please tell me.
I want to know that some people live quiet lives.
It will help me sleep better. :Zzzz:

Thank you.
Mari

way beyond quiet

I think we are at silent.

We live on a farm in rural western North Carolina. We hear the occasional car go by, and our dog barks when the cows get to close to the fence for her liking, but otherwise...nothing really. Occasionally one of the mama cows will bawl to find its wayward calf (which will probably have wandered into the front yard through a small hole in the fence

I just registered here from Braintalk - I figured if you all were here, I might as well join. I might not post much, but I check in on everybody every day...

Hi Mari, that sounds awful annoying. Have you signed a lease there?

Kansas sounds real quiet. I would just worry about tornado's. But I assume whereever you live there is something, blizzards, wild fires, hurricanes, etc..

I live in the southwest, in a rental home complex, it's pretty quiet, everyone has dogs too, but you only hear them if one starts and its rare. People walk their dogs mostly.

We all have backyards so it's nice. The climate here is great too!!!!

Good Luck.....Nikko

Mari,

I never hear anything out of my new neighbors. Kids are not allowed here in my apartment complex.

I am sorry that you continue to have to deal with noise...
sounds like you are not alone in your misery.:(

We live in a relatively quiet subdivision.
There are many elderly folks and some children...but none close enough to hear basketballs or skate boarding which does go on down on the other block.
Our nearest neighbors are great on one side, serrogate parents like, expert gardeners...wonderful neighbors!
the other side...remember this is the man who chewed me out for having our yard waste(stack of branches) over lapping 5 feet on his property....
they also have parked trucks on the front yard grass, a boat and RV....but keep a very neat yard so that is good.
He is a handy man and someone you could go to
in case of an emergency...(I think).
Anyway.
WE listen to a fan at night to block out noise and missed this at my sisters house...we did not sleep....
Have you ever considered getting a condo?
When is your lease up?

noise and a run-away train

That sucks, Mari.

I too am sensitive to noise and it sounds like around the clock over there. I've lived in a very noisy complex before and it was indeed very anNOISing. (sorry. you know i can't resist anything even close to a pun.)

Where I moved to is pretty quiet... more so than the other place. That is a boon. Of course that is outside... then there are my parents, but they do go out some.

Thanks

Dear MM's Mom,
Nice to see you again.
Your farm sounds wonderful.
I forget what bawling cows sound like!

Dear Nikko,
Yes, we have a lease, but I think the issue is more me.
And I dream about living in the middle of no where but like the convenience of living near services.

Dear Befuddled2,
That is good that you live in a quiet place. No kids? Do people have pets?

Dear Bizi,
I think the closeness of apt and condo living brings the noise element. But then my sister lives on "quiet" cul de sac and still deals with such things as her neighbors' power tools and dogs.

Dear Waves,
My old apt 4 miles away was in the middle of a big intersection and across the street from a small airport. And on an ambulance route to a hospital a few blocks a way. But I guess that we were set back from the road enough. Here I am nearer the road. And people drive faster on this road.

I can rest easier knowing that quiet does exist and that you guys get to participate in it.

The noise sensitivity is fairly new. I have to think about what is going on. Do you know I can't see movies anymore because of the speakers in the theaters? I watch DVDs at home with the sound off and read the text at the bottom of the screen instead.

I wonder if double pane windows would help with the sound?
I need to get to bed...have to work tomorrow...back to routine!
got some things unpacked but mostly spent quality time with my hubby, stayed in bed late, and lounded around house and had a great meal fro dinner at the restauarant called zeas...great rotisserie chicken and baby back pork ribs withh a thia sauce....very good, too much food and brough some home for tomorrow!
Havent figiured out when the diet will restart up....soon I hope!*after all of the candy is eaten ...
must get to bed!

Dear Mari,
I wonder if posting so late in the day/eve/am may contribute to our not sleeping well.
I wonder if you could post in the morning.I find that I am over stimulated reading posting before bed and I end up thinking about peoples problems or worrying about my response to threads.....
I think I need to only post in the mornings and find other things to do in the evenings like read a book.....

Dear Bizi,
This is true. Very true. :Sigh:

Responding/Writing stimulates me.
But books don't help much either.
I read from 5:00 am to 8:00am Thursday morning.
And it was a boring book.

Maybe I'll take up drawing. ... Or knitting. ...No idea here... I'll find an idea.

Mari
