Hi,
Im trying not to use any thing as was on morphine and codeine and asprin and paracetamol. But almost about every day 6pm the head pain becomes unbearable and I resort to 50mg diclofenac and paracetamol.

If still the pain is not bearable after 1 hr I take 30mg codeine.

It's not ideal as they suspect Im now suffering TIA's but it works for now, though I am seeing a specialist in a couple of weeks who will sort me out.

Make sure you are reviewed regularly as new symptoms require change.

Take care.

I used to take codeine and brufen tablets prior to my injury. My doctor asked me stop taking them just in case the brufen causes a bleed and the morphine in the codeine dulls the brain.

I was on cyclobenzaprine (sp?) for 2-3 years; it also seemed to help me to sleep; and then skelaxin(sp?) longterm, post-injury; plus an 800 mg. Rx ibuprofen, 1 x ea. 8 hrs ( = 3 per day/2400 mg total daily; 3200, if severe pain) and no other pain meds. I still take the 800 mg. Rx ibuprofen, as needed. (The 800 mg. Rx works better, much moreso highly effective for me than the 200 mg tabs, e.g. from Wal-Mart --- and cheaper (!) also than the 200 mg. generic, like Wal-Mart, or Dollar General, etc. variety.)

peachey,

Have you tried combining asprin and paracetamol at maximum dose of each? My doctor told me to take 900 mgs of each together. It is almost as good as paracetamol w/ codeine. Plus, it in non-narcotic. Just give your liver a break from the paracetamol (Tylenol or acetaminophen in the states) from time to time.

My best to you.
