One thing they didn't mention is that AAA has a drug plan. It has come in real handy at times.

doydie, AAA like the car AAA?
i'm on a lot of meds and always pay outrageous prices this time of yr.
i just picked up 10 meds and paid $500. my total this month; $700.

i'm going to try some suggestions in that article.

Is there any age restriction or is it based on disability? With my immuno- suppressants and other meds plus PCP visits plus specialist and diagnostic tests the total can be more than $2000/month and that was with insurance, now I got my first denial from SS and no more job so no more insurance. I can't afford my meds now and literally don't know how much longer I can survive without my meds.

ChiariGirl, I'm guessing each program in the story has different requirements. Income is usually the deciding factor whether or not one is eligible.

Here are some companies that might be useful to help pay for medications:
Montel Williams MS Foundation: (888) 324-2773
Partnership For Prescription Assistance: (888) 477-2669
Wellness 2 Wellness: (866) 317-2775
Together RX Access: (800) 444-4106
The Commonwealth Fund: (212) 606-3800
The Medicine Program: (800) 921-0072
NeedyMeds: (978) 865-4115
National Organization of Rare Disorders (NORD): (203) 744-0100
Rx Council: (866) 794-3571
Alternative Funding Group: (866) 426-2906
Patient Access Network: (866) 316-7261
Bridges to Access: (866) 728-4368
Rx Outreach: (800) 769-3880

Each of the DMDs has their own assistance program. Check out the website of your chosen med for the patient assistance phone number.

Good luck to you, ChiariGirl!
