Wisdom extraction - infection??

Hi, I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago and I'm still not back to feeling normal! I got stitches in the bottom right extraction site, which still haven't dissolved, should I be going back to the dentist to get them removed or should I continue waiting for them to dissolve? The gum around the stitches appears to be redder than it was a week ago, is this a sign of infection? Also, my left ear feels blocked and I feel some pressure behind my left ear when I lay down. Are blocked ears a sign of infection?

I've been contemplating going back to the dentist to get it checked out, but I don't want to waste their time if I'm just being overly paranoid!

I appreciate any advice I can get! Thanks!

Hi katz,

Yes, go back to the dentist who removed the teeth. It sounds like the stitches are accumulating plaque which could result in an infection. Better to be safe than sorry. The stitches at this point could actually slow down the healing.. so he will most likely remove them.

Never hesitate to see the dentist if you think you have a problem.... and in your case your visit would be warranted.
