10th anniversary of the discovery of human embryonic stem cell research (hESCR)

The Parkinson’s Action Network (PAN) is pleased to announce the release of a new white paper by the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR), of which PAN is a member. This white paper commemorates the 10th anniversary of the discovery of human embryonic stem cell research (hESCR) and looks forward to its promising future. A recent CAMR poll, conducted through the Opinion Research Corporation, found that nearly three-quarters of Americans (73%) want President-elect Obama to fulfill his campaign commitment of lifting the restrictions on this research.

“CAMR met with a group of the world’s leading scientists and thinkers to get their views on how far embryonic stem cell research has come, and where they see it leading. Without exception, every one of them believes that with fair and ethical federal funding, even greater things are on the horizon,” said Amy Comstock Rick, PAN Chief Executive Officer and President of CAMR. “We are more excited than ever about the promise this research holds for better treatments and cures for diseases like Parkinson’s.”
