My cockatiel birds.....OMG and pain and etc.
 

:( :( Just a little bit ago, I fed my birds. All of a sudden I heard them screaming. I think my female dog, unhooked the latch to the cage, she can open just about anything, because I feed them from the side panels, where you don't have to open the cage, only really to clean the cage and change their bird bath water.

My female bird seems fine. My male lost a load of feathers, he is now at the bottom of the cage. I covered the cage again, because birds get stressed real easy.

It happened once before and my male bird got out, and he was okay.
This time is worse. I don't have a Vet for my birds, nor do I have the money to even bring him to one.

I am going to go to the pet store and get something for sick/stressed or whatever they have. There is no blood anywhere, which is good.

If he doesn't make it, which I pray he will.

I hope my female bird doesn't die from depression or not having him, if he doesn't make it.:(

This all sucks, I feel terrible and I can't stop crying again.:( :( :( :(

Lately, I don't even get dressed, I can't seem to get motivated to even clean my house, do laundry, nothing. I still haven't picked up my Cymbalta, but it's not that, because I was like this when I was still taking it and it's only been a few days.

My pain issues are real real bad. The muscle relaxants my Dr. called in - don't help, nor do my pain med. I guess she will have to change my pain med.
But it's Tuesday and that is her day off.:confused:

My neck fusion pain ( 2 level with plate and screws) down onto my shoulder blades are killing me. If I do anything, it makes it so much worse. I know I am full of arthritis in my spine too. Plus L-4 (lumbar) is trying to fuse to nothing, because I had L-5 out in 1989, so that hurts too. I can't have anymore surgery, I have to take care of my mom and the house. Nor do I want anymore surgery. I couldn't handle it. My Ortho said that was the next option that I was looking at down the road, I guess I am down at the end of that road. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH:(

I am wondering if there is something else wrong with me, maybe Fibro? I don't even know much about that, but my body hurts a lot.:(

Oh Nikko, I am so sorry to hear you're bird got mauled, at least he's not got open wounds, that's a good sign. Hopefully he'll make it. While you're out at the pet shop I would go get the cymbalta, I think that is supposed to help with Pain too isn't it? I wish you weren't in such pain, it's so hard to be young and full of pain when you do anything. I really feel for you Nikko. Do you go to a pain management doctor? I do and we finally figured out what worked for me, then they changed me from the soma I had been taking as a muscle relaxer to one called Robaxin. It works about as well as the soma and the flexeril they tried me on did next to nothing. I wish you luck in finding the right combination of medication to get some relief. I really hate that you're in so much pain like that. :(

I am going to pick up my Cymbalta today.

My pain med is Percocet, well the generic oxycodone. At first I was on Vicoden but it didn't work, so I went back to the percocet and it just wasn't doing the job. She tried me on a low dose of morphine, but it made me sick, I can't take that.

She asked if I wanted to try oxycontin, at the time I was afraid, so I went back to the percocet.

But now, I am at my wits end with pain, so I will call her tomorrow and probably have to go see her. She has been through it all with me, so she knows everything. I guess I will try the oxycontin.

I can't live in this type of pain everyday, I just can't.

Going to go take a percocet now. My male bird is back up on the perch, but I don't know how he is, they are very quiet, probably both in shock, so I am keeping them covered for awhile.

I wish that the percocet would do the trick for you Nikko, it's so hard when you're in such pain and nothing touches it. I really feel for you. :( You shouldn't have to live in that pain every day either. I hope that you find some relief soon. :hug:

there is a red heating light that is great for sick birds and probably shocked birds. I used to use on my birds and it brought them around.

You are right pamster about the cymbalta also being used for pain.

Definitely try the Cymbalta. It usually works within 7 days. I was in a clinical trial for it a few years ago just before it came to market -- compressed spinal cord in my neck, fibromyalgia, and neuropathic pain in my hands and feet. Unbelievable relief. If it's gonna work for you, you should see effects within a week.

Try playing classical musical softly near your feather-babies to see if that will calm them. You can usually find a classical music station on the radio.

You have to get a small padlock with a key or something like that to keep the dog away. Maybe the dog is picking up on the pain signals that your feeling :(

I went to Petsmart and got some medicine for my birds to put in their water, which is tasty to them, plus the food for stress/travel/illness.

So far so good.

They have been covered most of the day, now the cage is partially covered and the lights are on, so maybe they are more relaxed.

My female chirped a few times, usually at night they get noisy when they want to be covered to go to sleep, so we will see.

My male isn't making any chirp's - which is odd.

Just saying my prayer's.
