mrsD medical visit and results:

Well, today was a stressful day.

And yes, my BP was up too. Differently than the last time too, to confound my doctor!

Some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that my B12 was 1999 (I guess that is the top limit). This is from 5mg daily for several months using the new Puritan's pride 5mg methyl B12 form. ( this is important, because I may start metformin soon...which depletes B12)

Also my Vit D was 43. Not really great...considering I use 5000IU D3 daily, and my doctor wants over 50ng. So I am going to do 10,000 IU one day, and 5,000IU the next until the next testing.

But all my efforts for controlling my insulin resistance now, for many years, (2 decades really) are now in the toilet. I will have to go back on metformin... not a great prospect.
There is a new form called Glumetza, which is less GI aggravating, but no one has it yet. It was recalled with the "stinky bottle" recalls...of Tylenol and Lipitor. The recall of Glumetza was at the wholesale level...so supplies may be still on pharmacy shelves! --How would a layman know this? Answer--not at all! )

I called CVS and Walgreen's and they had some. Didn't know what the drug was at first... not a confidence building event. (I talked to the Pharmacist personally -- pfffffftttttt)
The recall I discovered, by calling the company, this afternoon, says it will be available next month or 2.
The pharmacist at the manufacturer suggested I go and get the lot # of the bottles at CVS, and call them back Monday. I decided I will sniff the bottle as well, tomorrow...that ought to make the staff have a "great day" etc... crazy white haired lady sniffing the bottle!

The lumps in my neck are suspicious via the ultrasound I had. So now I have to have a CAT scan of them.
Not looking forward to this, because I have allergies to iodine imaging drugs... I'll face this next week.... premeds, etc.

I'm telling ya.... this is one frustrating situation. The prospect of Lymphoma is not something to look forward to.

However, my mammogram was normal. At least that was a comfort.

As you well know? Wait for the CAT results...

and then see what is what.
We can and often do waste energy, as we are NOT 'flubber'! Save the bouncing off the walls etc for later IF needed. Doesn't mean you won't? In the meantime, Do as many constructive things as you can that DEMAND attention and take your mind off of THIS.
Hugs love and hope as always! - j

I am sorry you have to bear so much right now...

I agree to try and keep your mind off the testing, but I know its easier said and done. We all love you here and we've got your back! I'm sorry your year is ending on this note....

Thank, you, all.

Yes, I am a little "verklempt" over this ... I don't know which is worse, metformin or a CAT scan!
(verklempt== remember Mike Meyers on SNLive, who did the Brooklyn lady...who got "verklempt" when he/she discussed Barbra Streisand? heheheheheh)

I am not good at going to medical procedures. I HATE invasive medical tests... I do everything I can to avoid Big Pharma.

The problem with the lymph node is that is has a new lump growing on it... this is what the CAT scan is for. Normally some people just have enlarged nodes here and there, according to my doctor. And I have been pretty tired lately..some days needing a nap etc. which is worrisome.

I just have to steel myself, I guess.

at least you are getting it done relatively quickly. waiting for a test like that is the worst part as im sure you know. i hope everything turns out well for you next week. i find that the things i worry about the most never happen. its always the thing i dont even think of that blindsides me....ha!

Well, I called my local CVS and my favorite female pharmacist was there. Whew...the doofus guy from yesterday was history.

I explained the issue with Glumetza, and she gave me the lot # so I can call the company back to see if it were recalled. Also she offered to sniff the bottle for me...to see if the dreaded chemical was in it...and it seemed okay to her. So if I get these, I'll only get 10 or so to try...and go from there.

We had a laugh together... and I spared her my old lady routine sniffing the bottle in public! HEHEHEHEHEHEH... would have made a good SNL skit I think in the end?
