New here and recently diagnosed with RSD

Hi everybody, I'm Cami. On Sept. 10th, 2010 I was working in my office when a truck drove through the front. Fortunately, I'd just gotten up from desk, or I'd be dead, I'm sure. Hence the name "Lucky10". However, a cabinet fell onto my foot (the corner striking right between the metatarsals), causing a fairly mild fracture, but intense pain. Now 8 months later, my dr. has diagnosed me with RSD. After reading posts on here, I'm grateful that what I have is minor compared to most, but I'm scared and wanting to do anything and everything I can to prevent this from getting worse. As it is now, I can't walk or ride a bike for aerobic exercise. I go to a local pool to swim, but even that causes pain. The simple force of water across the top of my foot causes it to burn and later feels like someone is jabbing needles into it. I currently take amitryptiline (daily and religiously), and tramadol as needed. My dr. has suggested neurontin, but I'm afraid I'd have a hard time working with that. And after reading some of your posts, I'm feeling like I should save the "big guns" for what may come down the road.
I'm sorry there's so many of you sufferring from this... and as severly as you are. But I'm grateful to have found a place that understands. I've suffered with depression through this. I hate that now people see me and all appears fine on the outside. I don't want to whine about it, so when asked I usually just say "today's a good day". But there are days that I want to scream at the top of my lungs!

Hello and Welcome!

Hello Cami...Lucky10...
WELCOME to NeuroTalk!

I'm sorry to hear that you have RSD. :(
I too have RSD, coming on 8yrs.... it can be a tough battle.

Here is the link to our RSD forum...

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum21.html

As you can tell....there is a wealth of information there. Please know you can feel free, if you need, to whine, complain, scream, or cry.... it's ok! We understand. Though no two of us with RSD are the same, have the same symptoms, or respond the same to the same medications... we all experience pain!!

Please feel free to roam around the boards and join in anywhere!

If you have any questions or need any assistance in finding your way around please don't hesitate to ask... someone will always be around shortly to help in any way that we can.

I look forward to seeing you around the board.
:)
Abbie
