2012~~Norfolk Eagles

.

I can't remember where we posted them! :o

Each season we make a new thread. I'll sticky it if there is enough interest.

This season, there is talk of tearing down the nest!

The airport...etc. Also the Virginia biologists withdrew support, so only WVEC is doing the cam.

I wonder if there will be chicks at all? If the airport gets its way
there will be no more eagles at Norfolk!

I've added the season year to your title Alffe...just so we can keep them straight for the future.

.

So we don't know if there will be chicks this year?

Thanks for posting this. I will be following them. I can't seem to get the videos to load/run. No problems on any other videos, so not sure why I can't view them.

Probably not active on cam yet. When the eggs come I think
they will turn it on. But you know, previously the biologists ran that cam...so I wonder who will do it now?

It is a really unique thing... if it doesn't come on I'll miss it.
I was soooooo upset when the female had the collision last spring. I can't believe I was so invested until all that emotion hit me. Even a friend of mine sent me a very upset email...so I was not alone I guess?

Oh, I hope they get the cam up and running. I didn't see this post until after I posted a new one. There is an eagle cam we can watch, but not the Norfolk. It's located in Decorah, Iowa and also has sound. The female has laid 2 eggs at this point. :)
.

In this article, they said the eggs were just laid this weekend.

She was just chattering away a moment ago! Another bird was in the tree and she was really telling them off. :D

No eggs yet.

However I found this series of photos, of two females fighting
for the Norfolk male and nesting area... locked talons in flight.

I've only seen this once upNorth myself, right over our dock one summer. It was also quite noisey with lots of screaming, then.
