Boxing, Balance & Memory

I have not done the "Rock Steady Boxing" program but do participate in an interval training PD exercise class where boxing is part of the routine. It is amazing how boxing footwork helps your balance and remembering the sequence of punches helps your memory. Ladies, you can wear pink boxing gloves too!

I've just started the Rock Steady boxing here in San Francisco.
I'm only on my 3rd class, but so far it seems pretty great.
We work with stationary bags and speed bags. We also face the mirror and just punch into the air. It's more about technique and hand / eye coordination. There is a lot more that goes on than just boxing - we also jump rope, pass a frisbee around, sit ups, squats, jumping jacks, medicine ball..etc. Sometimes they will put a rope ladder on the floor and we have to take certain steps in and out of it. They also add in the voice part and have us yell out as we're counting. And the floor is padded in case we fall. (That hasn't happened yet!)

Agreed, I'm doing the same class and it's great. Also great coaches - Kim and Simon. If you live in the Bay Area, join us!

I hope to go to the class in Indianapolis this winter....was very impressed with them at the World Congress in Montreal last fall. Great stuff...please attend any classes that you can from them.

I wish they would extend their classes to Peninsula. So far they have only day or earlier morning classes - no chance to attend if you work full time :(
