appt. with sleep neuro Wed afternoon

Hi,

I have to bring in a 2 week diary of my sleep http://bestsmileys.com/writer/2.gif, list of meds, list of vits and supplements, . . .

I also have to figure out how I am going to get there. I checked google maps but I don't like the highway that the map chose, so I will take a highway that I am more familiar with -- this will likely take longer.

I'll take my cell phone because this is one county over from me and the last time I was on that road was four years ago.

The sleep diary I have is all over the place. It is not typical because this has been the most stressful work two weeks for the past 7 months. I guess I will write on the top of the form that this is not typical -- better than lying on the form and making up stuff -- that would be my instinct that I need to control.

Mari

Good idea to write its not normal. That way you will feel better.

But you know its not normal for many to have the same sleep.

The neuro wants to do a sleep study.
He is even willing to do it in the day time when I sleep: 5:30 am - 2:00 pm.

The problem is that I have teeth problems that I have to take care of and I can't do both right now.

Teeth seem more important this moment.

Still, I have to think about this.

Delayed sleep phase syndrome

The neuro said that I have "delayed sleep phase syndrome" -- like to sleep in day instead of night.

He said 15% of people have this. Sometimes it is inherited. Most of the time it is a learned behavior.

He can help me unlearn the behavior IF I WANT.

I told him I'm not happy with the way things are but I'm not real motivated to make any changes; I only made an appointment with him because my pdoc told me to.

I'm tired

Hi, Bizi,
I presented in his office totally hung over and sleepy as all get out. I'm not even sure how I got there safely in the car.
I should not have been driving.
I was too sleepy to even answer his questions properly -- good thing he often sees patients in my condition.

I read some more about delayed sleep syndrome and I don't think I have it.
I CAN sleep earlier and often want to.
I choose not to. It is something very deeply hidden in my psyche. The tdoc and I made a little progress the past two summers but not too much because I was resistant.

The sleep doc was a hyper person.
Sometimes I like that. Sometimes I found it annoying.
He was confident that he could fix things for me -- after he did a sleep study and collected some data.

I'm not sure.
He does the sleep studies right in his office. His assistant showed me the 3 rooms (looked like hotel rooms) where people sleep and I saw the computers outside the rooms where the tech people watch.

The problem is that he is very far away (over 80 miles round trip) and a big hassle. I have to be very motivated to commit to treatment. I'm not sure I have any motivation right now for anything except to get through each day as best I can.

I am very tired right now.
I took a three hour nap already tonight.
Maybe I really should / could go to bed right now.
I'm depressed too. Maybe sleep would help.

Wow Mari, I sure hope this sleep doc can help. It would be great if you could get past this sleeping issue and get some decent rest. I know when I use the CPAP it definitely helps. It's just a pain in the butt getting out th e stuff and setting it up and then putting it all away in the morning because of Jackie so I am non-compliant on the use of my cpap. :(

Here's to hoping you can get some relief! :D

I want to go back to bed but I an appointment.

I wish I could work out the sleep issues.
