I like this. Thought I'd share.

Some people in New Zealand are developing a new type of wheelchair that's a cross between a traditional wheelchair, and a Segway.

If I ever end up in a chair, I want one of these.

They're still in development, but they're starting to get more funding to produce them commercially.

It's called the "Ogo".

They look really cool.

I would kill for one of those chairs. I can't wait until they become able to everyone.:D

I'd almost start using a chair willingly now if one of those were available already. I'm seriously resisting doing anything like that, but if that chair was ready, I'd have it on my Christmas list.

Looks like they might have started designing a child-sized Ogo. This just popped up on Facebook.

It looks to be one of the closer images that I've seen of it. I think it has "manual" controls on the joystick that's on the side (not a wheel that you turn with your hand, but a joystick to control the chair with), but other than that, everything I've read is that you can control this thing just by leaning your body a certain way. Just like using a Segway.

It never does show how it is putting it in and out of a car. Other than that it looks really good. The seat really looks comfy.

yeah, I'm still waiting for video of putting it into a car. And some of these more recent videos look like they took their prototype to a convention or some sort of show-and-tell, and then let a bunch of people try it out. Here's another one.

I would really like to know how heavy it is. I have a minivan with a ramp, so I bet if I had one, I'd probably be able to get it into my car, as long as the wheel base isn't too wide to go up the ramp.
