The Lost Symbol

Has anyone read Dan Brown's new book?
what did you think about it?

It was just given to me as a present and I don't think I really want to read it. I think it is a whole bunch of fluff..

Is it worth jumping right into this book? Or, do I need to read the first ones?

Totally agree, I read a bit of his earlier books and they are full of misinformation and flaws.

If you do read it, don't take it as any more than a piece of fiction

Loved it. I enjoy some novelks with a religious bent to them. But, a reader must be careful and not take it ( the message ) as doctrine. I am an Eveangelical Christian ( born Again ) and I read just for the entertainment value of the novel. But I am well grounded in my faith enough to know not to believe otherwise. I enjoy Dan Browns novels, but I do not believe the religious message that he sends.

Not my favorite Dan Brown

Angels and Demons, and The Da Vinci Code are much better. I mean how many times can you say, "it was right under my nose the whole time"? I will say the villian in Lost Symbol is deliciously evil. But, I would definitely not start with this one. I think you will lose a lot of appreciation for Robert Langdon (the main character). NOt a lot of character development. Almost as if Brown assumes all readers have read the first two books. Hope this helps.
