going to the pain clinic

Hi there all! Well I have been pressured into going to the pain clinic. I will start by going to a hospital for a few days and getting detoxed off all my normal meds. I still don't know if they will let me take other meds like my meds for spasms or not. Then I go to the clinic for 8 hrs of physical therapy a day. I don't know if I can do it....I guess they go slow though. I have been doing pretty well since the weather is really nice here. Does anyone else find that the weather can influence flairs? The doctors tried to tell me that and overdoing it (how I often flair the most) is all in my head and is a psychological response.
Thank you all for your support! I will give you updates on how it all goes. I don't know if I will have computer access....I hope so because I am going to be sooooooooooo lonely away from my family.
Hope this finds you all with low pain today!
Jennelle

Hello Jennelle,

I wish you the best of luck with your PT at the pain clinic. The weather plays a big role in how I feel. One of my doctors told me how the weather makes me feel is one thing they will never be able to control with medicine.
Again best of luck to you!!!!

Jennelle,
how the weather changes, and stress and exertion make you feel is REAL! Not in your head!
I certainly hope that you're prepared to do some screaming and reacting to what ever is REAL for you!
No need to over do it, just be Brutally Honest!
Don't let them "Tell You" how you feel!

You Tell Them!
OK?

Keep us posted!

Love,
Pete

Hi Jennelle,
How can a doctor tell you that the pain is all in your head when you flare from the weather!! Aarrgggh!. Pete's right when he ways never let anyone tell you how you feel..
Overdoing it can cause flare, but it's not in your head..it's your physiology responding to excess movement, not enough movement or to stress.
Good luck at the pain clinic..if you start to get lonely think of all the people here on the board who are thinking of you..
Hope4thebest

Detox

Hi jennelle

I went into detox Feb. 2008 for a week. It was not to bad. The docs still gave me some pain meds and Robaxin. I was able to receive phone calls and have family visit. Any doctor who tells you the pain is in your head is nuts and I would never go back to that again. If you have any questions about my detox experience I will be happy to answer them. Know you are in my prayers and I wish you luck. It is not easy going through detox.:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Hi. I hope you got my PM too. Anyhow of course you are in my thoughts. Also though I only made it through 4 days of Cleveland pain clinic I don't regret going at all. The support and also learning more about what I can do and how to cope really was a good thing. There will be a lot of ups and downs both mental and physical but I hope in the long run it will help overall. As for the weather yes there is a huge connection and why I have moved many times. As for doctors with this I have heard such a range and the ones that I call idiots I try to remind myself that and move forward. Focusing on there comments just make me more frustrated and stressed. I have heard from doctors how it is a "fluke" and it just seems like there are too many then. Sending many thoughts

Jennelle,

I wish you the best and will remember you in my meditation prayers. I know you go because you "have" to go..might as well attempt to make the best of the situation.

Be Honest, Be Yourself, with your responses during treatment...only you know how you feel.

Keep me informed,ok?

Take care, remember, you are never alone:hug:

Everytime the barometer drops my wife's RSD increases, every single time. It's one of her main complaints.
