Off topic: The Eagle Cam....

There is a thread at our Pets forum about this.

Once you watch you will be totally enthalled:

right now they are sleeping, but when the parents come and feed it is
fascinating. Watch how they are learning etc! Around 1pm is when the action
really starts.

This is a blog and also shows past pictures. When the chicks were first hatched and more.

That's so cool. Thanks.

On the same topic, there is the first successful bald eagle nest in over 50 years on Catalina Island, 26 miles from Los Angeles.

Another eagle webcam

I passed your link on, and a friend from Maine just sent me this link: http://www.briloon.org/watching-wild...e-cam-live.php . A major north- easter is brewing there so the birds are probably going to just hunker down the rest of today.

Thanks all . . .

Thanks for the great sites. I have always had an affinity for eagles. When we went to Alaska, the best highlight for me was seeing a ton of bald eagles and a fair number of nests. I still get chills -also helpful for my feet :) - when recalling them.

I went to Catalina and through the Nature Conservancy got some info and a tour of the eagle's habitat. I am gratified to hear about the successes of their program. There is info here:

Neat site...

I noticed that a biologist from William & Mary will be banding the chicks on Tuesday am. I could not see the site, because it is dark now, so don't have a very good sense of its place or surroundings. I do know that this banding can be very dangerous. There have been reported incidents of biologists' deaths relating to perceived interference with nests. Parent birds are extremely protective of their young and their nest sites...

This would be very interesting to observe, if this is covered on the Internet.

Eagle webcam

Anyone else unable to display the webcam? I have been trying for two days now and all I get is black... Did anyone see the chicks being banded? I was really hoping to catch that.

Your computer needs the proper plug-in installed. If you have Windows XP, try http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win.../download.aspx
If you're running an older version of Windows it doesn't mean that you're a bad person. But, you won't be able to see either of the sites.
