Look at what a contaminated make-up brush did:

Look at what happened to this young woman!

Spinal infection from mrsA --contracted from a make up brush borrowed from a friend.

There is no end to the potentials for environmental triggers for
disease these days!

I saw that. How terrible. I wonder about her friend too.
Who would use something belonging to someone else and put it on a pimple though? ewww.

MRSA infected foot of NFL kicker ends career. My son is ER RN and staph infections are what makes all disinfection protocols longer and more stringent. Hope nobody is out there taking shortcuts!!! Live long and prosper Mrs. D, Ken in Texas.

I put off going to the doctor and played around with an infected toe starting in February. The podiatrist said he couldn't see me for a week so I just soaked it in hot water, poured peroxide everywhere, had swollen lymph glands in the groin, fever and chills, but by the appointment I had gotten rid of the worst of it. At my follow up with another podiatrist she gave me h*** and said I belonged in the hospital on IV antibiotics when I had the fever. I am now in their system as a must see same day.

It still hasn't healed closed two months later, it was open so long it seemed to reinfect, though not as bad as the first time. I was on bactrim for a week now i am on clindamycin for two. I have learned a few lessons along the way, one of which is that no weight bearing means just that. Every time I get a small amount of new skin it rips right back open unless I am very careful and wear the ridiculous, seven pound boot. With my poor balance it basically means stay on the sofa or in bed. Driving me crazy.

That sounds just awful Susanne. I hope you heal soon.

[My daughter had a terrible infection in an ear ring piercing she'd had for many years with no problem ever. One day she didn't clean an earing and it caused an horrific infection that went on for months despite treatments and minor surgery to clean the area. To this day she can't wear earings anymore as it flares again. ]

Wow....Susanne... you need some probiotics with that clindamycin... it could really tear you up inside.

Here is a link to a rating....service:

I choose NOW Probiotic-10 from this list. Available at Amazon.

That must be a terrible wound to have and take care of.
Please be careful.

Thank you for this, Mrs. D. I will put it on order. The young, earnest podiatrist who has taken me on as her special case insisted I go right out and get kefir and drink it religiously while on the clindamycin. I did have terrible stomach pain every time I took it, four times a day, but they have settled down a little. It seemed to clear up the drainage and smell within two days, but this time I am not taking any chances and will take it for the full two weeks. The original hole finally looks like it is healing, but another smaller, shallow one has opened nearby.
I do not take this stuff as seriously as I should, and I will take any excuse to avoid a doctor but she really scared me. I will be getting braces when this heals to keep me from walking on the insides of my feet.
