Best friends?

In a conversation the other day, someone asked (paraphrased) "Who is your best friend?" Well, heavens to betsy, I don't think I have one!

This isn't a wah-wah thread, I do have friends. And if I really needed something, I can think of several people right off the top of my head who would sincerely be happy to help.

But a "best friend"? Not really. I'm not sure if it's because I'm such a recluse these days, because I'm not the "best friend" type, because I have a different definition for that than I used to...who knows?

Do you have a best friend?

I'm the kind of person who doesn't really have a "best friend". But I have two "true friends". The kind of people who would drop anything to come be there for me if I truly needed them, and I would do the same for them. I have other friends but these two have proven themselves over and over to be the ones I can depend on. I was also raised to believe that if you are lucky enough to have even one of these people in your life than you are very blessed!

I have a best friend. We have been best friends since we were 9 yrs old:eek:. She just lives about 1/2 mile from me and we hardly ever see each other. We keep in touch daily thru e-mail and phone. I just can't keep up the best friend obligations anymore and she's a year older than I am:D.

Most of my friends? have disappeared from my life, since I can't participate, so the hell with 'em. huh.

I have youuuuuu!!!!

Yeah I have two "friends" that when I told them I have MS just magically didn't want to speak to me anymore.

But one of my true friends doesn't let me just stay here and be by myself. When I'm up to it, she takes me out to do things we both enjoy. When I don't feel like going out, she comes to visit me. If we want to scrapbook but I don't feel I can cause my house is trashed and needs cleaned, she helps me clean (or does it herself) so that we can.

:) Ok, B2Y... you triggered the song now playing in my head... What a Friend we have in Jesus! ;) On the earthly plane, I have to say my best friend is my husband. Coming in a close second to that is my mom, mother-in-law and sis-in-law, but they all live 1/2 a day drive away.

I have acquaintances in town, church and the neighborhood...but no one I really call a close friend. Heck, I see the door greeter at Sam's Club more than I do these other people!:p

I have two good friends that live in here in my town. I can't always count on them, but I can count on them alot. My best friend is my little sister who lives in Austin, TX. We talk everyday. -- sometimes more than once a day. I really wish she did not live in Texas.

My DH is my best friend...I have a couple of girlfriends too, and I love them dearly. But I am more of a loaner...

Since my MS dx and my ever increasing "hermitis" (is that a word?) I don't have what I'd call best friends. I have friends that I consider good friends but rarely ever see and sometimes go a month or more with no contact. But we can pick back up right where we left off and it doesn't seem like so much time has passed.

Most of my friends are online or long distance. I have a few people here locally I consider friends but not "best friends".

Since I'm not as mobile as I used to be folks just don't seem to want to take the time and effort to come and see me. Oh, well.
