Requip Experiences?

Any experiences with Requip, esp. for tremor, or any of your symptoms, would be greatly appreciated, good or bad. Benefits? Side effects? Weight gain or loss? Hallucinations? Cognitive? Obsessions? Sleepiness or insomnia? I'm tremor dominant, 5 years diagnosed, Sinemet didn't help tremor and unfortunately did give me intolerable dystonia in legs, so MDS wants me to try Requip.

Any thoughts you could share with me? Or any other suggestions for what did work for your tremor. Thanks so much! I really need some relief! It's wrecking my life and really bringing me down, esp. when combined with a lot of muscle & joint pain, getting harder & harder to stay positive.

I take 4 mg of ReQuip XL (down from 8 since cycling) and have had no ill side effects that I'm aware of. When I was at 8, I experienced dry mouth. A friend taught me self hypnosis for my tremor. I lie on my back and think "peace" when I inhale and "quiet hand" when I exhale. At first it took 30 minutes for it to work, then 15, then 5 and now I can do it without lying down or saying anything. I just will it to stop shaking. If I'm anxious or thinking hard about something else, I still shake. It's like a canary in the coal mine telling me to calm down and get control of myself.

Nan, I always appreciate your input, but I wonder if the benefit you see in tremor is only while you're actually doing that procedure, or does it last at all, and if so for how long? I have an unusually bad tremor that nothing seems to touch so far. It's really bothering me and making it hard to do anything. I've tried various meds, yoga, chi gong instructor's ideas, massage, progressive relaxation, etc., etc., but no luck so far, other than very minor & temporary relief, at best, not lasting beyond while I'm actually doing it. In yoga they have to put sandbags on my hands while we're doing the relaxation part so they won't flop around uncontrollably. That does seem to work, but only until the sandbags are removed. I'm not ready to consider DBS yet. Thanks very much for your positive comments on Requip; I hope it may help.

Hi Peony, I usually just pay attention to the tremor when it's keeping me awake. When I'm thinking about PD or someone is asking me questions about it, or I'm cold, the tremor is more pronounced, but not like you're describing. Someone suggested medical marijuana, which I would certainly try before DBS!
