Chin pain loose bottom teeth

I had my left bottom front tooth pulled a year ago and had a gap there since then. I decided to experiment with elastics to try to close the gap myself (big mistake). I had no pain while my teeth were moving and now after I closed 2 mm of the gap I removed the elastics. Now my adjacent teeth are a bit loose and I have a mild pain on my chin, could this be just from movement of teeth after I took my elastics off?. I don't have any swelling just this annoying chin ache. Should I wait it out or have an X-ray?

Hi kwt,

It would be wise to have a dental xray of the teeth on both sides of the missing tooth to evaluate the health of those teeth and the bone. The pressure from the elastics could have inflamed and possibly injured the periodontal ligaments and caused irreversible damage to the pulp of both teeth. The fact that they are loose can also indicate that some bone loss may have occurred.

The pain in the chin could be referred pain from inflammation and/or infection. It would be best to see your dentist asap for the xray and evaluation.

Hopefully it is just trauma related and the teeth are still healthy!

Thank you for your reply

I ended up doing an OPG exray and the dentist said i have inflammation under 3 teeth but no infection. I took off the elastics and the next day (today) no more chin pain. But my teeth are not stable yet. Dentist said I could lose all 3 teeth if they don't get stable within next week. I had the elastic on for 2 months so is 1 week without elastics long enough to determine if the teeth should be pulled or should I wait more ??

What can i do to help stable them or any supplements i can take ?? Im worried sick I have to pull 3 teeth.
